Jaey sat uncomfortably in front of the Viscount and Viscountess.
It was rare for them to call him. Maybe it happened only once or twice in the 20 years he lived  but it wouldn't even be considered a conversation.

"the king wants Janella to marry that tyrant of a duke" the viscount began.

Jaeys eye's widened. Janella never mentioned anything about it. Jaey did notice that Janella was less talkative and she would often sit in silence deep thought.

"of course it won't happen"

The Viscountess intervened.

"why did you call me." Jaey straightforwardly asked, Wanting to get things over with. The two people in front of him had the same blood running in his veins yet they were both nothing but a stranger to him.

"I'm aware you and Janella have been switching places from time to time with a perfect disguise"

Somehow Jaey already knew where this conversation was going.

"you will be going in her place" the viscount said.

"the grand duke will find out right away." Jaey immediately dismissed the idea. though he didnt want Janella to go he knew going in her place would endanger them even more.

"get rid of him before he does." the Viscount said standing up and looking out the huge window behind his study table with a sinister smile on his face.

Jaey couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"are you ordering me to kill the grand duke?" Jaey asked bewildered

"at least you're capable of doing that much." the Viscount said looking at him in a degrading manner.

"you know what will happen if you fail. The Mishka family will fall, Janella will die." he said almost threatening. He knew full well how to manipulate the twins.

Jaey clenched his fist, cold sweat run through his back. If he doesn't  go, Janella will be the one to suffer and marry the tyrant Grand duke but if he fails the whole family, even Janella will meet their end.

"all you have to do is clean up well, make sure no traces will lead to you " the Viscount said laughing...

Well if they did find Jaey as the culprit all they had to do was cut ties with him and only him would take the fall Jaey knew that as well, he was only a pawn to them.

The Viscountess sat beside Jaey and hugged his arm. Jaey looked down on his clenched hands.

"please Jaey. Janella is fated to do many more things. She can not be bound to such a tyrant! You love Janella don't you? You're her brother!"

The Viscountess sweetly said.

"Janella has done a lot of things for you... It is time you repay her. You are a Mishka and my son, you have to save Janella!"

Jaey almost laughed. It was the first time the Viscountess had called him their son, more or less a Mishka.

"would you prefer to send Janella and let her dirty her hands!" the Viscountess shouted seeing jaey with an expressionless face. Jaey didn't have a choice.

"yes, ill go" Jaey said.

The Viscountess beamed happily.

" you chose well, my son" she said caressing his back.

Jaey left the Viscounts study. His eyes dull. He had never killed someone or even injured someone.

But he had to do it. For the family. For Janella.

"my lord, is there something on your mind" Albert asked as he removed Jaeys coat.

Jaey smiled like he usually did and sat  on the couch in the middle of his room while Albert removed Jaeys shoes.

"I'll be getting married, Albert"

Albert dropped the shoe on the floor in shock but quickly regained composure, though Jaey had noticed it.

"aren't you curious?"

"..."

Jaey laughed.

"I'll be getting married to Grand duke Coventry" he said. Albert furrowed his brows, confused.

"I'll be going instead of my sister Janella and maybe that's where I'll die" he said leaning against the couch with a laugh.

Albert was silent. He watched Jaey gaze at the ceiling who had a sad smile on his lips.

"i will follow you where ever you go, young master." Albert said putting his hands on his chest.

Jaey glanced at him and nodded. He didn't understand why Albert wanted to follow him. He didn't understand Albert's loyalty to him but he was there and Jaey was thankful.

two weeks had passed and in those two weeks Janella was nowhere to be found in the manor and Jaey understood. Janella probably felt like it was her fault but there was nothing they could do, they were the viscounts children, whatever the head says they must obey.

the wedding was tomorrow everything was rushed. the grand duke thought it was a waste of time and wanted thing's to be over with.  it was night time when Jaey was drinking wine sitting on his chair beside the window in his room, watching the moonlight reflect in the small pond in the garden.

he heard a knock on his door followed by the sound of it opening. he didn't mind it. Albert was the only one whod be coming in and out of his room anyways.

"Jaey..."

Jaey glanced at janella who was standing infront of his door. it was dark from the lack of light in Jaeys room the only source of illumination was the moon light but Jaey knew it was Janella from her voice and posture.

"wine?" Jaey offered. Janella was silent. jaey sighed and looked back out the window " its fine Janella"  he said to ease Janella. Somehow  Jaey felt that Janella was once again blaming herself for everything that is happening to him but Jaey didn't want Janella to live with those kind of feelings.

"There won't be a wedding" Janella suddenly said "what?" Was the only thing that came out of Jaeys mouth. He set his wine glass down and turned to Janella.

Janella smiled.

"We're leaving" she said, somehow, just like the moonlight Janellas eyes glistened similarly to how the moon would. She extended her arms toward Jaey who was in a daze.

"Let's go,Jaey."
