29. The Beginning Of The End (Part 1)

Christmas just past a few days ago, and we just got home from the weekend away at Kat's family holiday home. Now that we are home, it's time to start finalizing some of the things for the trip. There's not that much to do, but I want to make to sure everything is perfect! Kat has always said that she regrets not traveling in her 20's and although we get to travel for our jobs often, its not the same. Her mother gave me some good places and activities to do in a few countries, from when she went travelling before Kat was born, and her father gave me the lecture about safety and self-defense, like a good father should do.

New York is probably my least planned locations, not only because Kat has been here multiple times. I thought I would take her to some cute hidden places in the city, like there is a really cute small book shop that pretty much no one knows about. And a few coffee shops here and there that I think Kat has never been to. We are here for five days, and to be honest I feel like we are going to enjoy the luxury hotels more than the city that they are in. I also know that Kat nor I really care about fancy restaurants or hotels, but its nice to be treated once in a while, especially in New York.

Kat Pov

The sidewalks are covered in snow, and the buildings drip icicles as we walk to down a busy street. Dom takes my hand, leading me down small steps to a even smaller door. Crouching down, to fit through, I look up to find a cozy room, with brick walls and leather couches. A young man, standing behind a coffee machine, steams milk, as Dom takes us to a table in the middle of the room. The ceilings are low, but it doesn't feel cramped, or confined. No one else was here, just me and Dom, with the man in the corner, with his checker fleece and slouchy boots just visible under his apron. He places hot cups of what looks like Hot chocolate in front of us, as we take our seats. Thanking him, he replies with a smile and telling us our meals will be ready soon. Dom is spoiling me, and I love every second of it.

Dom took me too many other places these last five days, cute romantic spots that I never knew where there, and I loved every second of it. I almost forgot that there is so much more that we are going to do, and so many more countries and towns.

Dom Pov

This trip isn't just any trip, I'm with the love of my love traveling the world. Making her smile and laugh every day, are my only goals, and will be for the rest of my life. When I first kissed her in her dressing room at the beginning of last year, I realized that there isn't one day that I don't want to wake up next to her, not one second where I don't want her with me. And every day I fall for her even more. After everything she has been through, I'm in awe of her bravery and strength. I never thought this would be my life, I never thought, I would want to spend the rest of my life with one single person, but she has changed me for the good in so many ways.

Flashback

As Kat leaves to go get us some for drinks, I walk to Kat's mom Tressa and her father.

"Hello, Hun everything alright? Hope you are enjoying it so far" She says.

"Everything is perfect thank you, but I was hoping to talk to you both about something, if that's okay?"

They both look at each other smiling. "Sure Hun, let's go to the study, it's a bit quieter there"

Following her to the small room, I sit on the desk chair as they sit on the small couch by the opposite wall.

"As you both know, I have been planning a trip for Kat for a while now, and before I finishing up the plans, and finalize everything, there is one thing I would like to ask the both of you" My hands started to shake for nervousness, but she grabs my hands, holding them tightly. "You know how much I love your daughter, and I know that its been less than a year but, she is the woman I would love the to spend the rest of my life with, and her happiness is all that matters to me, and I will try my absolute best to make her as happy like she makes me, if that's even possible" I stop to breath after my little nervous ramble. I exhale. "I love your daughter, and I was wondering if at the end of our trip, I could have your blessing to ask for your daughters hand in marriage?"
