Steffen laid in bed staring up at the ceiling. He listened to the sounds of the early morning, there was some solace of living in the country. He closed his eyes and smiled satisfyingly, the words 'I love you', repeated in his head as June's image appeared. 'She loves me.' He thought. 'Why did she love me?' He rolled on his side still not ready to get up and sighed. Just then his phone rang. He watched June's image as her face lit up his phone screen; he suddenly felt nervous and anxious when he answered the phone.
"Hi" his voice was low and husky, but he was trying to sound awake even though he hadn't woke up long.
"Hi" June paused a bit, his stomach ached to hold her. "How are you?" she continued.
"I am good, what about you?" A smile teased the corner of his lips.
"Oh I'm ok, I was just thinking about you. Are you free today?"
"Wow, are you missing me that much? " Steffen grinned. 'I mustn't let her hear my anxiousness', he thought and yawned instead.
"Oh, I thought you were awake,"
"Nah, I am good_just about to check the weather."
"Oh, ok I want to take you somewhere." She explained.
"Really?" Sounding surprised Steffen stood up an looked through the window checking for signs of clear skies since it rained earlier.
"Yes really. How soon can you be ready?"
"Give me an hour. I am still recovering you know. I am walking a bit more independently, but it still gives me a little pain."
"I know, I know. Take your time. I'll pick you up in a bit, ok?"
"Ok" Steffen now had a reason to get out of bed. He wasn't sure what to wear so he kept it simple with a white T', brown blazer and beige jeans.
Miriam insisted that he ate breakfast and took his meds, which he hated. He didn't like that they made him feel sick in the stomach, she was insistent that he had a full recovery.
"Maybe you feel stressed by all that you are going through that upsets you." She stated. "By the way did you hear back from Dr. Cave?"
"Umm... Not as yet. I think the results are back by the end of this week."
Miriam threw the pot spoon in her hand in the sink in a moment of frustration. "What is taking him so long? If the analysis wasn't tampered with, you would have gotten back those results! I know it deep down that, that little wicked wretch would have done something awful to mess this up for you."
"Grandmum, don't worry, I have been praying that God shows up her lies." He moved over to her and rest his hands on her shoulders. "I am sorry that I made this mistake and made you lose faith in me. I was reckless and got caught up in the moment and now I have to work at cleaning up this mess."
She looked at him and sighed. "Oh honey you were young and foolish, mistakes often happen at your age. The thing is that you acknowledged where you went wrong and deal with the problem ahead of you." Miriam consoled him. "I hope that you have worked things out with June. I know that baby is really into you."
Steffen couldn't help but smile and nod his head. "Actually, she is coming over to pick my up in a bit."
"Really now?" She teased. "Where are you heading?"
"That I am not sure about, so I dressed a bit simple."
"I don't care what my grandbaby wear, he will always look good. You remind me of your grandfather. He was tall and handsome just the same. "
