Grover knew something was off from the moment he walked into the cabin to see his stuff packed in the porch, no Percy, and Jason Grace sitting on his bed.
"What are you doing in my best friends cabin?" He growled.
Jason just smiled. "Oh but I'm in my best friends cabin. You see, Underwood, I actually fixed him. He's happy again, and it only took me five minutes,"
"What. Did. You. Do. To. Him?"
Before Grover could ask another question or Jason answer one, Percy skipped into the room wearing bright colors and basically bouncing.
"Grover! Guess what Jason did? He fixed me! Isn't he the best friend ever! I'm back to normal! The sun is shining and I am so so happy!"
"Come on best friend!" Percy grabbed Jason's hand and dragged him out of the room, "let's go do something!"
Jason threw a scrap of paper over his shoulder, though Percy didn't notice it. Grover watched them leave in confusion. He sat down on Percys bed and stared at the framed photo.
It had been replaced with one of Jason and Percy. Grover caught a glimpse of the paper Jason threw over his shoulder. It was the old photo, but grovers face was cut off.
"Somethings not right," Annabeth appeared in the doorway, she walked over and sat next to Grover. "Is it?"
"Jason did something. Percy isn't Percy anymore. I've seen that type of potion, it takes away all sadness. Sometimes it's okay, but it's risky. Percy just went from being depressed to being on top of the world. We have to get him sad again,"
"We have to make my boyfriend. . .broken again?" Annabeth asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Annabeth, I don't like him hurt more than you, but he was getting there. I'm just afraid that Jason took a big leap backwards. He might be worse than he was when I was starting. The only way to get him back is to push those feelings back, and luckily through the empathy link I can do that, but every sad feeling he has ever felt will come rushing back,"
"So he'll be worse?"
"It's the only way he's going to get better. First we just need to find him without his new best friend,"
Annabeth got up but Grover stopped her. "Wait, I know this sounds stupid but. . .how close were they? On the Argo, how close were Jason and Percy?"
The blond gave a sad smile, "I guess no one ever told you. When you left, Percy was devastated. He only talked to me and Nico, but Nico wasn't here half the time. And then Jason showed up and Percy wanted to be there for him in case Leo ever went missing. But he was always your best friend. That's why he never changed that photo,"
"thanks," Grover gave a weak smile before glaring at the door, lets go fix your boyfriend,"
the two walked forward and thought he camp, calling on Will Solace to go annoy Jason. Annabeth smiled and walked up to her boyfriend, Grover on the other side. Grover put his hands on his head an concentrating, sending every negative thought he could through
Percy stopped smiling, falling to his knees. tears were streaming down his face as he let out sobs. Grover lead his friend to the cabin, knowing every death was streaming back to him.
"its not your fault," Grover said softly, although he knew fullheartedly that Percy still believed it was.
