Hendery paced around his room, beaming with a new frustration that had fallen on his lap. He was set to be married in just four weeks, but he was also determined to change that.

Sighing, he sat down on the chair in front of his window. The view of the cosmos was so clear he thought he could fall through it and suffocate in its grasp. He made the discovery of his love-hate relationship with the stars. They both reminded him of the times he would watch meteor showers with his brother, and of the unbreakable chains that bound him now.

The silence that he had grown used to captivated him now, and it felt like the unknown would last forever, if he could even tell where forever began or ended. Though he found himself missing the warmth of his home, the beautiful escape in front of him made those feelings vanish. He no longer felt the stresses of university, the unpaid bills, his job, nothing. His mind was no longer filled with sorrows, but now an empty void.

He stood up and leaned against the wall, his back to the window.

“Hm?” He moved his head towards his door. He smelled something welcoming, something soothing and familiar.

“Coffee?” He pushed himself off the wall and cracked the door open, peering down the hallways.

He was wearing black sweatpants, a black T-shirt and no shoes, but that didn’t seem to stop him from satisfying his curiosities.

Cautiously he stepped out into the hallway.

“Left?” He mumbled to himself, trying to follow the bittersweet aroma

“Left?” He mumbled to himself, trying to follow the bittersweet aroma.

He turned to his left and walked half the hall, stopping to take a right down another hallway.

“Your Majesty.” Someone carrying two black boxes stopped and bowed to him.

“Maj- oh, right.” he grumbled. “Could you tell me where that smell is coming from?”

“Oh, well there is a cafe just down this corridor, you are welcome-”

“Oh! Thank you so much!” He smiled cheerfully.

“Here, let me show you there.” She sat the boxes down on the ground, her hair moving to reveal her elven ears.

“What is your name?” Hendery asked.
“Ambrosia.” She smiled and lifted her head up. “Follow me please.” She took his hand and happily hopped along down the corridor. She seemed young, 14 or so, so her behavior wasn’t off for her skippy attitude.

“Why don’t you join me?” Hendery asked.

She blushed and stopped. “Y-Your majesty that-”

“I just have questions about the place.” He gestured for her to continue forward.

Embarrassed she turned around and swiftly began walking again.
“My apologies, I wasn’t assuming you would-”

Hendery laughed “It’s okay, don’t worry about it.”
