Chapter 5: First Apartment

  You would think for someone to be in their mid 20s that they would have at least moved out of the nest but not everyone is lucky. On the third floor of a four story apartment building, Jesse is dreading coming home after grocery shopping. The apartment was decent, just picture a nearly run down New York apartment where your tenant stays in the same building as you. White walls and brown wooden floors. Thankfully they have furniture already assigned to each room. It's not good quality but it'll have to do for now. "Home sweet home.." Tossing her apartment keys on the counter, Jesse brought her four bags of groceries in with ease. Single living has its perks: your stuff is always where you left it, you don't have to share the bathroom with anyone and no one to share the tv with. Jesse can come and go as she pleases. Unfortunately, she hasn't had much luck getting a job at the local newspaper bureau. Swiftly putting the groceries away, she grabs a can of soda and sits body horizontally across the couch. Thankfully the town of Dexter has been so gracious to Jesse and she's been finding small jobs to do here and there for extra cash. Few sips of her soda later, Jesse grabs her laptop and starts typing what she saw at the grocery store. She thought to herself "should I even be writing this?" Why should she? She's not a news reporter, no matter how bad she wants to be. A sound of bells interrupted her train of negative thoughts, it was her phone. An unknown number, must be important due to the states area code. "Hello?" Jesse answered the call and a scruffy voice replied. "
