Michigan was always an iffy state to live in, but Jesse loved it to the soul. She's lived in Michigan all her life with her father and never thought about relocating as she's gotten older. Growing up in a single parent household has always been hard. A child needs their mother for those first talks and after break up hugs. What kind of mother walks away from their child?
Fast forward to the present all Jesse could think about on her way to Colorado, is how she's going to have to pretty much start over. Packing her past away in her home attic, she was finally going to get serious with her dream of being a writer for the newspaper. Walking away from Michigan is her chasing after what she really wants. She felt herself slip into a slight daydream like trance. All she could think about was how it's going to be for a girl in her prime making it on her own and perusing her dreams in a new state with no family or friends to help.
"You're going to do great, you know." Her father glanced at her from the drivers seat for a second and turned his attention back to the road. "What was mom like?" The question came so easy like she's been asking it since she was a kid. Her father sighed and said, "She was everything you think she was. Aside from her leaving she was a very sweet and wholesome woman." He went on, "You have her eyes and smile. Every time I look at you I see her face. I am blessed to have known a woman like she. But, she had some issues she had to deal with before she could raise a child." He shrugged and sulked a bit. "That's why she's not around." And just like that he's done and silence the rest of the way. She had, issues? Why get pregnant if you can't take care of the baby? Just to walk away and not come back. Jesse needed answers and she was going to get them.
