winter fox

Chapter 4

It's been a week now since I've been with Atlas and Damon. and a lot has changed Damon has warmed up to me and no longer gets angry at me. Damon and I were out hunting while Atlas was waiting at the den. Damon and I split up so I was walking alone and so far not successful. the cold winter was driving all the game away and I was too small to even think about going after a deer.  

after a while, she was able to find a bunch of rabbits but she would have to be quick because they were near their burrows. she bolted forward quickly killing plump rabbits. she picked them up her head high with triumph as she walked back to the den Damon was already there with a sparrow next to him. she laid her prey down and licked the blood from her jaws. 

Atlas ran over his eyes showed joy as he grabbed the sparrow for it was his favorite prey so I grabbed one of the rabbits I killed and Damon took the other. after I had finished I cleaned the blood and fur from my muzzle and got rid of the remains that no one would eat and looked back over to see Atlas asleep soundly.

I smiled and looked over at Damon who seemed uncomfortable. "hey what's wrong?" I sat down and looked at him.

"nothing." I could tell he was obviously lying he sucked at that.

"come on I know you better than that tell me what's bugging you," I said laying down in front of him. he looked away from me hiding his face from my view as his ears flattened. have I done something to make him mad at me? I started thinking over what I did that day but couldn't think of anything. "did I make you made?" I asked finally.

he looked at me confused. "no not at all." he looked at his paws and sighed. "it's just..." he paused his cheeks turned red. "never mind." he stood up and walked off into the den. I watched him leave then sighed the sun was going down and I was feeling tired so I picked up Atlas and put him in his bed then went to lay in mine. I looked at Damon one more time before I went to sleep.
