17 - Dinner

3RD PERSON’S POV 

Upon entering the house, Wang Yibo was surprised to see his mother together with his Uncles, even his uncle James was there. They were busy talking with the Xiao couple.

He went to his mother and kissed her on her cheek, then bowed to the elders as he greeted them respectfully. 

“How’s your day at the office, dear?” Lui Lin asked her son.

“As usual, Mom.” 

“You must be proud of your nephew, Feng.” Philip Xiao commented. “At such a young age he is now very successful. He’s even one of the youngest sought after bachelors in China."

“Of course!” Wang Feng exclaims proudly. “But the one who’s really proud here is my sister-in-law.”

“I’ve always been proud of my son. You know that brother-in-law.” Then they laugh loudly.

“Hmm..  It seems you oldies are having a good time here. Hi Dad, Mom.” Xiao Zhan butts in. “By the way, will Jino really be joining us tonight?” 

“I’m here! Did you miss me that much, gē?” Jino exclaims, getting their attention. He just arrived with his girlfriend, Wen wen. 

The couple greeted the elders first before greeting Sean. Jino even shakes hands with  Yibo.

“Oh..  you’re here also, Yibo. But I didn’t see your car parked outside.” He asks.

“Ah..  yes. Zhan zhan—I mean Sean picked me up from the office. So I came here with him and I let Ji Li drive my car.” 

Upon hearing that, Liu Lin is very happy.

“Really? Did the two of you made-up already?” she can’t help but ask. Now everyone is looking at the two alternately. 

Sean clears his throat before speaking,  “Jana asks me to pick-up Yibo. So I just did what I was told. And it’s not a big deal anyway. Since his office is on the way.” Xiao Zhan answers blankly. “Oh..  I went to see an old acquaintance at the cafè near his office," Sean added when he noticed that everybody was staring at him. Then he just shrugged his shoulders.

"I didn't know you were that close with the Wangs, gē." Jino suddenly speaks. "I just learned that you were best friends with Haoxuan but I didn't know you were close to Yibo too. You never mentioned him before. But he just called you Zhan-Zhan, which I knew only Aunty Zhang and Uncle Xiao Meng does, besides from Haoxuan."

"Well, he must’ve been a Wang already if he just didn't overreact." 

"Haoxuan…!"  "Gē…!" Yibo and Sean exclaimed in chorus. 

"Huh?" Jino's frown grew wider.

“Let’s talk about that and some other stuff over dinner, okay?" Nana pats her son’s head and she guides them to the dinning hall. Upon reaching the dining hall  one of the maids approached the Xiao couple.

“Sir, Ma'am, Sir Jung Hwan said he’ll be coming down any minute now.”

“Thank you. Stephanie," Nana says and smiles at her. The maid called Stephanie smiles back at her. She felt very lucky to have a very kind employer like the Xiao family. They treated every helper as their family, not just a helper.
