Chapter Nineteen

Captured

She took her time walking home. That day had been particularly stressful, and the coolness of night helped eased the tension. The breeze whipped and howled through the remnants of what was once a beautiful neighborhood. Now, all that stood were empty shells of forgotten lives.

Sarah stopped in front of Stacey’s old house. The once belle of the block was reduced a sad shack. Sadness filled her heart as she continued one her way. She regretted ever letting Stacey come along.

Looking around, at the empty streets, gave her a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. It was way more quiet than usual, and the air around her seemed electrified somehow. Something wasn’t right. Her bones ached with a bad premonition. She could feel someone’s eyes following her. Knowing, she needed to get home quick, she picked up her pace.

Just then, a vehicle came screaming around the previous corner. She stopped to see if maybe it was her dad. But no one she knew had a large white cargo van. Something didn’t feel right about this, and she became worried, when the van slowed down.

As it neared to a stop the side door was pulled open and two men dressed in black, jumped out. She knew she had to get out of there as fast as possible.

Sarah managed to get two blocks from her house before they caught up to her. She hit the ground hard as they tried restraining her. She tried to scream but they quickly covered her mouth. She struggled as hard as she could but, soon, she was being chloroformed. Once out cold, they lifted her into the van and drove off.

When she woke up, she was tied to a bed in what appeared to be a hospital room. The walls were padded, so no one could hear her screams. The leather straps were, tight enough so she couldn’t break loose, and yet they still allowed circulation to flow.

As the night progressed, she began to get tired, hungry, and cold. He hospital gown was becoming a bit drafty. She wondered what she was going to do. How could she possibly get out of this situation?

The room was dark, and the only light she saw, came from a street lamp somewhere outside the nearby window. Through the black metal bars she could see the woods as clear as day. Suddenly, she wished she were there with Christopher instead of strapped to a bed.

“I wish you were here right now Christopher.” she whispered in the darkness.

Close your eyes and you will be able to see me.” He whispered back.

As she closed her eyes and focused, she was able to teleport her thoughts to him. Suddenly, she pictured herself back at the same place they’d made love, in her dream. He held her close as they stood there and spoke.

Christopher, how do I get out of this hospital? They have me tied to the bed and I know they won't voluntarily let me leave. They’ll probably try to cut me up into little pieces or something.” She told him.

I cannot help you from here since I’m unable to leave the woods. But I can give you a small amount of my power to move things.” He said.

You mean like telekinesis or something?” she asked.

If that’s what you call it in your world, then yes. In order for it to work, we’ll have to mix a small part of our blood together. With my blood coursing through your veins, you’ll have a small portion of my power.” He told her.

Then let’s do it.” She replied.

Christopher pulled out a small boot knife, and Sarah clenched her teeth as he made a small slice in her finger. He did the same and they rubbed their fingers together. Suddenly, She felt a strange feeling overcoming her body.
