Several weeks pass by for Harry. He has spent most of that time arranging his departure from New York... and doing rehearsals for his very last Broadway show.
Harry's going over lines in front of his mirror again at Broadway, trying to get into character for this role tonight. Yet... all his mind can think about is a certain pair of blue eyes.
He can't stop the constant thoughts of Louis from wandering into his mind these days. He hasn't seen him or physically touched him since the night at Nick's flat. And Louis never came to the 3 previous performances of this play on Broadway.
Harry has called Meredith several times to check on Louis, and she has only reassured him over and over that he is doing ok... his father just won't allow him to come to the plays.
Louis Tomlinson is the one man that Harry finally wants to love, and he can't. And Harry's known all along that loving anyone the way that he loves Louis would hurt like hell in the end. He can't love another man. No matter how much his heart tells him that he can, this world tells him that he can't.
He stares at himself in the mirror, wishing again for the millionth time that he was just like the 'normal' men of society. Why can't he just love a woman? Why can't he fall in love and get married? Raise a family? Live a normal fucking life.
Why does he have to love sky blue eyes, long eyelashes, and a strong British accent that he could listen to for hours? Why does it matter if the person he loves has a dick between his legs? Why does loving Louis have to be an abomination to society to begin with?
"It's going to be another full house," Nick is saying at once as he's hurrying over to Harry at his make up table.
Harry sort of nods but he doesn't smile.
"Hey, it's... your very last performance," Nick sighs as he's leaning against the table in front of Harry. "This is your last show on Broadway... and I get that you're upset... with everything going on... I would be, too..."
"I'm relieved... that this is my last show," Harry states at once, his eyes meeting Nick's. "I am. I... want this to be over. I want to forget New York City..."
"New York doesn't want to forget you," Nick admits at once, Harry's face falling. "And I speak for a lot of New York when I say that... it will never be the same without you... and you know that."
Harry does his best to nod as he sort of shrugs and tries to laugh, "I'm better off... far away from here... and we both know that."
Nick bites his lip, his face staying serious. The reality of the situation is beginning to set in for him; Harry's leaving... and he's leaving very soon.
His best friend is leaving... and he'll most likely never see Harry again.
"You sure... that you've thought this through?" Nick manages to say, his voice breaking. Harry's eyes meet Nick's again and Nick's face doesn't change. "I mean, are you really sure that... Hollywood is what you want?"
