Just One Year

2- Joy

        (Joys POV) My names joy, I live in Milson City. As you know it's not the best place to live. On the bright side though, I turn 16 tomorrow and I'm pretty sure I'm turning 16 after my soulmate. That means I get to leave home tomorrow and meet him! That's not the only reason I'm excited though, I really want to get away from my mom. All she does is boss me around like I'm her house maid, My dad left me and my mom as soon as my little brother was born. Talking about my little brother, he is 12 and gets to sit on his but all day and read or draw. I may be the older sibling but when I was his age I was cleaning the WHOLE house. But let's get off of that topic now. So, since the R-days, our city hasn't had much money and that means I don't get a big sweet 16 party, in fact, I get no party at all. I'm about to get home from school now and then I gotta do homework uhhhhh!!!

I do my homework and then I go down stairs to hopefully sneak out to Miles house. He's my best friend and hopefully my soulmate. I make it all the way to the door when "Where do you think your going?" My mom questions "Just to the Miles" I respond "And why would that be?" Why does she question me so much?!? "To go clean" I have to lie because she doesn't know me and Miles are friends. Miles mom is "Best friends" with my mom, but his mom still knows mine is too strict and mean so she lies for us. "No need to do that, there is plenty that needs done here" "Mom, she said she'd pay me, wouldn't you rather me clean someone else's house and get payed so you have money for groceries than me clean our own (already clean) house for free?" "That does make sense. How much is she paying you?" "5 bucks" I say "Fine, whatever" It's a 30 minute walk to Miles house but it's ok because that just means more time away from home and in the fresh air.

*knock knock* "joy!" Miles mother answered the door "Hi Ms.Cander" "he's downstairs" she tells me. I walk in the door and into the basement, that's where Miles hangout spot is, he's drawing like always. "Do you mind if I join" I say as I peek around the corner "not at all" he's says as he laughs. That's when I see it, what he's drawing "that's beautiful"
