chapter twelve
annabeth"Please come to the football game?"
"Annabeth?"
I snapped out of my day dream and looked back to my boyfriend, who was staring at me as if I were insane.
I shrugged as I slowly slid my binder into my already full backpack. "I dunno, Luke, I'm pretty tired and I've got all this homework—"
"Please," he said sternly, placing his hand tightly on my arm, not allowing me to move. "You missed the last one, and this is homecoming!"
I sighed as I peered past Luke. We were in a study hall that practically everyone in our grade had, which wasn't as impressive learning our grade was far under a hundred students.
My eyes quickly met with a pair of sea green eyes, which winked at me, causing me to blush. I quickly looked away from Percy and back to Luke.
"I guess," I replied.
He instantly grinned, showing off his winning smile. "You'll sit in the front row, right? I wanna see your face in the crowd."
"I'll try, but others might beat me there, first," I said, my eyes darting to Drew Tanka, who was also making eyes near us, but she was focused on Luke.
"Okay, I'll see you then," Luke replied. "I should probably get going soon, practice starts in less than an hour."
I nodded as he got up from his seat, planted a kiss on my cheek, and shoved his stuff hastily into his backpack.
"We're still going to homecoming, right?" I asked. "Like, the dance?"
Our school had homecoming dances, but they were usually insufferable. Bad food, lame music, and teacher standing around with balloons in hand, but all the football players and their dates usually snuck into an empty classroom and had the real fun.
Luke nodded. "Uh, yeah, sure. You have a dress and everything, right?"
"Yeah, I do. So, I'll see you tonight?" I asked. He nodded and rushed out of the classroom.
I finished my schoolwork before finishing packing up bag and making my way to my dorm, where I changed and got ready for the football game.
"Where are you going?" Thalia asked me as she restrained me with her arms.
I rolled my eyes as I shoved her off of me. "The football game."
She burst out laughing. "Yeah, right. Where are you actually going?"
"I'm serious! Luke asked me," I replied as Thalia sat up.
"Uh, alright then. Stay safe and please don't become addicted to football. I can't lose another best friend," she joked.
"Another?"
After forcing Thalia to leave me alone, I made my way down to the football field that was, surprise surprise, already flooded with people.
The front row, thankfully, had one seat left, which I quickly swerved into, sitting next to some popular kids that I didn't know.
The first quarter of the game was rough. Luke would throw the ball, probably hitting another player or the ref, they'd score, Drew would cheer, the works.
"Go Luke!" Drew practically screamed as she did another obnoxious cartwheel. "You've got this!"
"She should just make out with him already," one of the kids next to me said with a fake gag as Luke winked at Drew. "Ugh, did you see that wink?!"
