Chapter 4.5: Hatching and Chopping

"Gardevoir, use Thunderbolt!" Nejire shouted. Right on cue, Gardevoir released multiple streaks of powerful lightning from its body and directed it towards Froakie.

"Froakie, dodge then use Double Team!" Izuku commanded. Froakie evaded the Thunderbolt as it struck the ground creating some smoke. As soon as the smoke disappeared, Nejire saw multiple clones of Froakie jumping and running at her Gardevoir.

"Psychic!" Nejire quickly commanded. Gardevoir's eyes were then surrounded by blue light as the Pokemon destroyed every clone of Froakie in sight, including the real Froakie. The frog was then sent back right next to Izuku. Izuku and Nejire then stared at each other anticipating their next move.

Two months have gone by since Nejire's and Izuku's first encounter and ever since then, they've been talking and texting non-stop. They both have been learning so much more about Pokemon and each other. Izuku even showed her one of his volumes titled "Pokemon and Trainer's Analysis", and to his surprise, Nejire was flooded with awe as she admired every detail the book contained. Nejire was so amazed in fact, that she asked Izuku to teach her how to sketch and with that, it gave Nejire a bigger excuse to keep hanging out with her favorite bush-headed boy. Over the course of getting to know each other, Nejire suggested that Izuku and her should spar one time and without hesitation the boy agreed to do so. Nejire would teach Izuku and Froakie how to maneuver around tight spots, how to counter different types of attacks, and the element of predicting attacks based on movements. Right now, All Might gave Izuku the day off to rest and to catch up on anything he is lacking behind. However, since there are about four months left before the UA Entrance Exams, Izuku couldn't waste anymore time in relaxing or doing anything not productive for him and Froakie. So whenever Izuku was free or didn't have training with All Might, he would always spar with Nejire. Izuku thought at first that Nejire would go easy on him because she was older, but Izuku found out the hard way that Nejire didn't care in the slightest.

"Seems like you aren't just attacking head on anymore, but instead anticipating my next attack. Good job on improving your patience, Midoriya!" Nejire commended the boy. "But sitting around won't get you anywhere. Gardevoir, use Shadow Ball!" Gardevoir then spread out its arms and concentrated a Shadow Ball in each of its hands. Gardevoir then quickly sent out the Shadow Ball at Froakie who was still standing still.

"Froakie, dodge then use Smokescreen!" Izuku shouted. Froakie then dodged the two Shadow Balls just in time and produced a large amount of smoke. "Great! Now just what we practiced, buddy!" Izuku continued. Nejire kept her head up and told Gardevoir to scout out for the littlest movements. As the smoke continued to flow through the battlefield, Nejire spotted a figure that looked just like Froakie. She then commanded her Gardevoir to use Thunderbolt.

As the Thunderbolt struck onto the silhouette of Froakie, it revealed to be just a decoy as Froakie used its Frubbles to quickly make a replica of itself. Izuku smirked and balled his fists up. He then shouted from the top of his lungs.

"Froakie, Aerial Ace!" Froakie then appeared right behind Gardevoir. Without any time for Nejire to counter, Froakie landed the hit on Gardevoir sending the elegant Pokemon back a few feet. Froakie then hopped back and repositioned himself right next to Izuku. Nejire smiled seeing how fast Izuku and Froakie were improving. She then clasped her hands together as she jumped for joy congratulating the two on their new strategy.
