Senna

Bo-ring, Senna Choi thought as she walked along the ring of towers that compromised most of the boarding school.

The girl had been looking around the outside castle, walking around casually when someone tapped her on the shoulder. Although not in the mood to be disturbed, she turned around and smiled at the toothy boy looking at her. Green robes, natural brunette hair, and a stocky figure, he wasn't a total eyesore, although Senna wasn't sure about his attitude.
"Hi! I'm Senna Choi of the student council, how may I help you?"

"Um, actually, it's not on official business. It's more to do with personal matters? Involving... me and you?"

Oh, god. Not again! Senna felt bad rejecting these hopeless fanatics, but how was she to accept some kind of dating proposal if she didn't even know the guy? Wanting to be understanding, she smiled wider.
"You can elaborate."

The boy blushed, staring into Senna's face as he started rambling.
"Um, I've kinda thought you were really pretty and cool and stuff, and so I was wondering if you'd like to... go out?"

This kind of motive to ask her out hurt Senna's feelings a lot, even if she didn't show it. Was she so shallow that the only thing drawing people into her was her looks? Not feeling that sorry anymore, she let her face drop in an apologetic frown.
"Um, I'm sorry, but I'm not that ... interested in a romantic relationship at the moment. Again, I'm really sorry..." she cringed at that, hoping the boy would understand. Some of the people would be strangely insistent on dating her, so much so that she'd had to resort to less-than-honorable ways to reject someone. Luckily, this guy wasn't so insistent and left her ALONE. Finally. He would find someone to date someday, but it wouldn't be her.

Senna continued walking, watching couples go walking by her. Meiling College for Witches and Wizards was surprisingly boring for its large population, she thought as she walked by yet another mushy couple. Ew. She made a point to turn away from them, feeling slightly jealous as she passed two friends talking. It was too bad Senna had no one to talk to except for herself, and she wasn't the nicest when it came to that.

Sitting down by one of the towers, she looked pointedly at everyone she passed. What were they thinking? Usually, she'd avoid the power, but she was just so tempted. Boredom made students do strange things. The day had been cloudy, one of the reasons Senna was out in the first place; Sun meant dark skin, dark skin meant more chance of freckles, freckles meant sunspots, and in her opinion, sunspots were ugly. Even if people only liked her for her looks and she'd probably gain more friends if she were less pretty, she wasn't about to give up one of her hobbies.

"Did you know there's a secret library inside the special library?" she heard one of the students whisper in Cantonese. "It's so cool."

Yeah, Senna agreed. It is. Too bad it won't be secret anymore when I'm done with it.

Returning back to the English tower, she materialized on her dorm floor. It was Monday night, meaning that the dorms had reset last night and Senna wasn't used to the placement. She checked the elegant bronze plaques on the door, thankful that the new placement wasn't so far from her old one. As usual, her roommate wasn't back yet and Senna had nothing to do until night. Her roommate probably wouldn't actually come back, she thought to herself as she reached over a table to grab a book. The girl was too busy canoodling with her boyfriend. And how thankful Senna was for that because privacy was everything she needed for a late-night excursion.

Laughing to herself, she took a seat on her roommate's desk and read. The other girl would never know anyway.
