Lyn
If someone ever said Ashlyn Vasher was a completely normal girl, then they'd be so, so wrong. She can't be one even if she wanted to.
Firstly, do normal girls have fathers that never write to them? No.
Secondly, do normal girls dislike almost everyone in the college? No.
Thirdly, do normal girls like darkness and have certain types of nocturnal habits? No.
Lastly, do normal girls hate sunshine? Probably not.
It was the bad kind of abnormal, the I-want-to-stay-away-from-this-girl kind of bad.
So there, Lyn was a completely abnormal person. But of course, she has reasons for all her abnormal-ness. Why does she like darkness? Because no one can see her there. Why does she hate sunshine? She thinks she might- perhaps- MAYBE be allergic to it, or maybe it's just her. Why does she hate almost everyone in this college? Because they are too much of a school of lovey-dovey hopeless idiots.
As for why her father doesn't write to her, that should be a question for him.
Despite all the abnormal-ness of all this, it rarely bothers Lyn herself. She doesn't have any people to call friends in this college, but who cares? Totally not her. She was completely fine the way she is. Whenever she thinks of all the snuggly couples on the corridors, kissing in public and all, it made her SICK, what on earth was wrong with these people? If they want to kiss, go kiss somewhere else.
Lyn rolled her eyes. She was in the special library, as usual, only for the top students. Which made this place more quiet and exclusive. Not like the main library, even though it was bigger than this one, it was louder too. Seriously, don't they read? There are clearly some signs saying 'No Shouting in the Library'. Don't they know that a Library is for READING, NOT SHOUTING? The signs should say 'SHUT UP' instead.
She was reading, as usual, what else is there to do in the boring college anyway? Books are way more interesting than both the college and the students in it.
Just then, Lyn heard a shuffling sound nearby, then a giggle. She glared up from the book she's reading. She had an urge to snap at the sound, what kind of 'top student' would be stupid enough to made noise while the Librarian was here?
The sound just grew louder; soon, Lyn was so irritated she put down her book and decided to go searching for the source. What. Is. WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE.
She came around a corner and looked up to see... a couple kissing.
...
Lyn stared at them, they were too busy with their kiss to even notice her.
Seriously? They went all the way to ask for permission for access to the special library just for THIS?
The couple broke apart with a shriek and Lyn realized she had voiced that thought out loud. But do they have to be so overreacting? It's not like she's a monster or whatever.
Lyn strode away without waiting for a response, they'll be gone, probably looking for another place to do inexplicable things to each other.
She sat back down. Free of the worry that someone would interrupt since most people stay out of her way when they see her reading, and if they do, well, too bad for them, she knows plenty of spells and hexes, and really, she wouldn't mind having someone for her to practice them on.
Lyn flipped back to the page that she was on. Perfectly content with the fact that she was all alone once more.
