Lyn
What. Kind. Of. Freaking. Prank. Was. THAT?
Lyn stared disbelievingly at the spot where Senna had just been, and disappeared. No, not disappeared, her eyes were sharp enough to see that the other girl had fallen into something, a... hole? What would a hole be doing on the floor of the divination classroom? She raised an eyebrow, perhaps a magic hole to swallow all her problems?
Senna's not a problem. Says the nonexistent nice part of her brain.
That's right. She's not the problem. Her horrible fashion sense is. Says the rotten vast majority.
A hissing noise interrupted her thoughts and Lyn turned around to see the snake from Care for Magical Creatures glide out from a corner. She gave a frustrated sigh.
"I see that you're determined to follow me around the whole school until the day you successfully drive me to my grave." she hissed.
The snake just stuck out its tongue and looked at her with taunting eyes- can snakes even look taunting? Don't they need eyebrows to do that? Or eyelids?
"Well too bad, it just so happens that an invisible hole opened and kidnapped Senna Perfect Choi," Lyn informed. "And I guess I have no choice but to do something about it or I might get accused of murdering a Student Council member, important people and all." She muttered the last few words in English.
She made her way carefully towards the spot Senna was last seen, the snake stubbornly trailed after her.
Scanning the place, Lyn remembered the words Senna found behind the pattern on the floor before she fell.
Hui yi, Senna had said, in Chinese, Lyn was pretty sure it meant... memories? She soon spotted them behind the patterns. Squinting, she made out the words.
Only, it wasn't hui yi.
"Meng xiang," Lyn read, frowning. "That doesn't mean 'memories', does it? I'm pretty sure it means-"
A faint hissing rang in her ears, "Dreams."
The next thing she knew, she lost her footing, then all went dark.
***
Dreams.
Memories and Dreams-
Lyn woke in a start, regaining consciousness; her hands flew to her wand instinctively. Everything was dark, she coughed, there was probably a lot of dust too. Squinting, she decided that a light source would probably do.
"Lumos," Lyn whispered, the tip of her wand glowed brightly. Eyes scanning her surroundings, she found herself in a hall, a very, very, tremendously long hall, she couldn't see the end of it. Beside her were shelves of vials and bottles, some contained with liquid that comes in all colors, but pale, almost transparent, others were just empty.
Good gracious, is this really what I think it is?
She checked the ceiling, which is also the floor of the divination classroom, the opening was sealed as she thought it would be. And it's not like she could just conjure herself wings and fly up there if it's still open, and even if she could, there's probably an enchantment cast on it, after all, if there's a spell on the way in, why not one on the way out too?
Just then, her eyes caught something, a shiny corner of a label poking out from the dust beneath a shelf. Walking over, Lyn reached her hand out, then hesitated, surely this place won't be so full of magic that even a small label would be enchanted? She shrugged, picking up the object anyway and blowing the dust off enough to make out the word, and found out they were Chinese, thank god she knew enough to read, it was the one subject she wasn't good at.
Shelf 3.The Hall of Dreams, property of Meiling School for Witches and Wizards.
So it looks like she guessed right, this was one of the two Lost Halls of Divination, the Hall of Dreams, where vials of dreams were stored. The label must have fallen off the shelf.
Carefully placing it back to where it should be, Lyn narrowed her eyes around her surroundings, she had heard the tale of which a teacher was murdered in these exact halls, and eventually, the school had to close the two divination halls for the safety of everybody. Until now, no one is sure what exactly caused the murder, or how, there were only rumors. Whatever did it, it was dangerous.
Just then, Lyn heard movement from behind her, a ripple of fear shot through her as she swirled around and extinguished her wand light.
Sucking in a breath, she stared straight at two glowing silver eyes.
It stared back.
Too late.
It had seen her.
