Light filtered through the patches in the curtain, waking Katsuki up. If you could count the blood-red rays light, anyways. It casted an eerie glow over Hell. Katsuki groaned in slight annoyance, feeling a weight over his waist. Since when were pillows this heavy? He forced his eyes open, line of sight drifting down to see...
Shouto's hand. Over his waist. Semi-spooning him, but close enough. The demon was still sleeping peacefully, as if nothing was amiss.
"What the fuck bitch-" He swore loudly, bringing a pillow and smashing it into poor Shouto's face. The other responded with an oof, clearly awake now. Shouto rubbed his eyes in confusion, raspy voice ringing through the room, "Why did you do that for?"
"Your hand was on me, dumbass! The pillows were there for a reason," the angel's face was laced with disgust, making Shouto wince inwardly. Ouch.
"Sorry... since we are up, does breakfast sound good?"
A beat of silence, and Shouto really thought he messed up. But then, a grunt of acknowledgement was heard, and they headed off to get breakfast, Shouto leading the way once again.

The days passed peacefully, at least as peaceful as they could get with the boisterous angel around. Katsuki started adjusting to eating red meat all the time, and was able to tune out most of the unpleasant background noises from Hell. There was nothing much to do, actually, and since Katsuki did not want to attend any more horrific Sessions, they simply wandered idly around Shouto's quarters. Going out to the void was not an option too, and Katsuki would complain whenever Shouto brought that up. "Too tired," he would say.
Then came the problem of the bed. The second night, Katsuki still built a pillow wall, but with noticeably less pillows than the first.
"Don't you want more pillows?" Shouto inquired, a muffled 'no' being the only answer he got before the angel was whisked away into dreamland.
The next morning, they woke up to realise, once again, they had probably been cuddling. Not exactly wanting to deal with Katsuki's rage, the demon hurriedly moved away and sputtered apologies. Katsuki said nothing, and did not even glare at Shouto. Instead, he turned a bright red, but Shouto was smart enough to know that he should not mention the way Katsuki's cheeks were dusted pink.
To his surprise, that night, no pillow wall was built.
Am I hallucinating, or... is Katsuki actually willingly... shifting closer? The bed is big enough that he doesn't need to be so close...
Shouto never felt this way before. His breathe hitched as Katsuki flipped over in his sleep, face now dangerously close to Shouto's. The demon felt his face flush, and gently pushed the other away before unwanted thoughts could manifest themselves in his head.
~
Neither Katsuki nor Shouto were sure when it started, but rumours were brewing in the Royal Court. They did not manage to catch exactly what was going on when eavesdropping on other lesser demons' conversations, but from the little knowledge Katsuki had about Hell, it had something to do with an organisation. Furthermore, he heard the word 'angel' being mentioned, and immediate knew it was referring to him. His natural instincts told him it was not a good sign, and Katsuki"s gut feeling had always been pretty accurate...
Shouto, on the other hand, had a slightly better understanding. It seemed that a secret organisation whose name was not spoke of, was planning something. Something different, something big, and it certainly involved Katsuki. The demon connected the dots, and realised that Rei must have been a part of the organisation- they had a small tattoo on their upper arm. Most peculiar, Shouto remembered thinking when he was first forced to meet Rei, who was an unruly mess, locked up in a cell.
Katsuki and Shouto were panting hard by the time they reached the comfort of Shouto's room- they had left eavesdropping the moment the demons stopped talking.
"What was that?" Katsuki breathed out, face deathly pale. He too, had heard his name, and understood that whatever was going on, it was sinister. Shouto simply shook his head. There simply was not enough information to conclude what was going on.
~
"I'm coming for you, filthy angel. You weren't suppose to survive. You were banished as a disgrace-" the voice spoke with so much venom, and Katsuki whipped his head around to the source, seeing nothing but blackness. Darker than anything he had ever seen before. It was like a vacuum, where nothing existed except endless darkness.
Then, a sinister smiled flickered, and everything went white.
Katsuki woke up.
Sweat poured down him, and he startled not only himself but Shouto too, who was now looking at him with worried eyes.
"You good?" Shouto was half-expecting a retort like "Of course not, dumbass, do I look ok?" But seeing the state the angel was in...
Katsuki felt words caught in his throat, and images with flashes of white tore through his mind, forcing him to curl into a ball, and at the same time, burying himself in Shouto's chest.
"Katsuki! Deep breathes, you're ok, you're ok," Shouto whispered a string of what he assumed was comforting words, which seemed to help. The angel forced himself to take deep gulps of air, and slowly he felt everything returning to normal. Shouto asked what happened when he deemed Katsuki to be able to reply.
"I-I" the angel started, and once the words came, they did not stop until the end. He described the brief but extremely weird event that happened to him- a nightmare, but Katsuki"s ego was too great to call it that.
"Must have been what we heard earlier today," Shouto explained. It was the only reasonable explanation, for now. "Stop overthinking, ok? We'll work this out tomorrow."
With that, Shouto pulled Katsuki closer, spooning him properly for the first time, and the blonde did not complain.
