Nightmare x Reader (Part 1)

"Hey Night!" Y/N called out to their best friend, "Oh, hey Y/N." Nightmare replied in a different voice, it was still the same as his normal voice except it was a little deep, you grabbed onto a branch and kicked yourself off the ground as you swung up the branch and sat down next to Nightmare. You scanned him a little as you noticed something, "Nothing to read today? I thought you love reading?" Nightmare's smile faded as he turned his head away, you couldn't see but his eyes were still on you. "It's nothing," He mumbled, "I just don't feel like reading today." He finished as he turned back to you.

You raised a brow, "Uh-huh," You started, "What if I didn't come by today? You'd be sitting here doing nothing all day." You mumbled the last part as you looked away. Nightmare stared at your hand as there was an awkward silence between you two, until you decided to cut the silence. "So..." You looked down, "How's your situation?" You asked as you looked at him with a small smile. "It's going fine, I guess... How's yours?" He replied, his warm smile back on his face. "It's going perfectly fine!" You said as you looked up.

"Huh," You mumbled as you noticed rain clouds, "seems like it's gonna rain soon." You mumbled once again, Nightmare heard since he sighed sadly as he looked down. "You better get going then, I don't want you to get sick." He said, You turned to him and frowned. "I'm not leaving you here, I'll go get something. Stay here!" You said the last part happily as you jumped off the branch and ran off the hill, Nightmare watched until your figure went out of sight.

'What's she gonna get?' Nightmare thought to himself as he shrugged it off and looked at the view of the village from the tree, Nightmare felt his emotions mixing a little. Nightmare kicked himself off the tree and looked up at Dream's side of the tree, "I don't need to prove that mine is better than yours. She's/He's all I need to be complete." Nightmare said the last part under his breath as his eyes landed on some kids that approached the tree.

Nightmare gave them a death glare as they just stopped and laughed, "Do you think you scare us? Wrong!" They laughed once again, "We saw you hanging out with our Sister/Brother, stay away from them!" The eldest kid said, 'must be Y/N's brothers and sister.' Nightmare thought as he growled and sat on his side of the tree. "Aw, are you gonna cry?~" They teased, Nightmare tried to keep his calm. He took a deep breath, "You should just go home, I'm not worth your time. It's about to rain soon, anyways." Nightmare said as he looked at the kids with a "Calm" look. The kids rolled their eyes and started walking away, Nightmare buried his face in his arms as he hugged his knees.

After a few minutes, the sky was dark and rain started pouring. Nightmare sighed sadly, he kept his head down as he felt alone. A few drops fell on Nightmare as he looked up in confusion as he felt them stop and drop on something else, He looked up as his best friend and brother sat in front if him, Y/N holding an umbrella above if the three of them. "Don't think that I'll leave you two here alone in the cold." Y/N said as they hugged both of the brothers.

"I'm sorry about my siblings..." Y/N apologized, Nightmare hugged them back. "It's okay, they're just worried about your safety..." Nightmare mumbled, "That's no excuse for them to come here and make fun of you like that..." Y/N said sadly, "It's alright, I'm alright and that's what matters." Nightmare gave a quick kiss on Y/N's cheek. Y/N blushed but it's hard to notice(666) since it was quite dark, they spent the whole day cuddling and chatting. Soon both the brothers fell asleep next to Y/N, Nightmare on Y/N's shoulder and Dream on their lap.

Y/N rested their head on Nightmare's as they slowly fell asleep, not so long after they were all asleep. Nightmare opened one eye as he heard Y/N's soft little snores, he smiled and held Y/N's hand and scooted a little closer and went back to sleep.

~3 Hours Later~

After three hours, Dream had woken up but Y/N and Nightmare were still asleep. Dream smiled at the two as he carefully stood up and walked to his side of the tree and sat on a branch. Nightmare waking up not so long after, Nightmare gently rested Y/N's head on the crook of his neck and he smiled and kissed their forehead. "I love you..." Nightmare whispered and blushed as a soft voice said it back. "I love you too..." Y/N whispered back as they nuzzled on Nightmare's neck, they both chuckled a bit and cuddled.
