Blinking through the darkness Brian look around the room he never been to. Wondering, he tried to sit his self-up yet the stabbing pain in his back tells him either way. Slumping back in this unfamiliar bed he slowly turns his head to the left side trying to figure out the door but to his dismay he was probably facing the window. Since there is a slight shift of the space, he thought it’s probably the curtain. Turning to the opposite side he squint his eyes to make out the form of the door but to his dismay he couldn’t. Heaving a sigh he decided to close his eyes and go for a nap since his head has been throbbing non-stop and it makes him feel nauseous. Closing his eyes he expected the first person to drift into his mind.

“What are you doing?” she asked right after she entered his  room. “You always seem to stare at yourself in the mirror despite of the fact you can’t see yourself.”

“I just like to imagine myself in the mirror. I can’t even remember my face after all those years.” He answered as he turn to face her. “I hope I do not displease you.” He gently smiled.

“And it’s a good thing that I’ve prepared myself for this.”

                “For what?”

“For you being a narcissist.” Right after she said it, he began to laugh hard making him cover his entire face. Which of course to her liking. After a good laugh, rather it was more hearing him laugh her face turn to frown. And it went unnoticed by him.

                “Why the frown?”

“Nothing.” She turn away from him.

“Come sit with me.” He offered the small space in his chair which she gladly oblige. “Now tell me what’s on your mind?”

                “Nothing, just trivial matters.”

“Trivial.” He looks at her. “Such as, how unworthy you are to me?” she raised her brow at him making him crook a smile.

                “Be serious.”

“Hn… well this trivial thing what is it?” he asked her again.

“You’ll laugh at me.” She pursed her lips as she turns away from his teasing stare.

“Oh no, my dear, I wouldn’t dare to laugh at you.” He said smiling. “But then I think I have a feeling what might this trivial matter is.”

“I don’t want to leave you.” She looked at him with pleading eyes. “Please, Marcus, take me with you.”

“Lucianna, if I were to spare someone’s mortality it will be you.” He gently caresses her cheeks. “I am a demon in a sheep’s clothing. I don’t want you to experience the same thing.” He said, voice pleading. “Don’t make it harder than it already is for me.”

                “But –“

“Immortality is a curse it’s never been a gift. This God your people prayed for wouldn’t be unwise enough to give it to you.” He announced smiling at her. “And it’s going to be the least thing I will give to you even if it means to hate me.” He breathes a sigh. “No matter the cost Lucianna, I will spare you from this inhumane thing.”
