Third Person
Angeline sat infront of the gravestone pulling the loose material of her jacket closer to her body as the chilly wind blew throughout the cemetery.
Tears of sadness had not stopped flowing from her cheeks since the moment she arrived in front of his headstone.
"im so sorry.. this is my fault." Her head hung low as she rocked herself back and forth slowly.
Today was the 6 month anniversary of her brothers death. She had called her brother multiple times that day, he answered her once in the morning, told her he was actually on his way to the grocery store and would call her back. He never got the chance to call her back, he got into a car crash right after leaving his house.
"if only i had kept you on the line longer.. you'd still be with me."
A figure emerged from the shadows, startling the girl but she didn't make an effort to move. Maybe this strange person would take her, reunite her with her brother.
"Hey, oh my you're freezing hon, here." The voice belonged to a boy that seemed to look the same age as she was.
He took his big coat off of his body, wrapping it around the girls shoulders tightly.
They sat in silence as the boy had let go of her shoulders, sitting down next to her. Pulling his knees closer to his chest, looking at the girl.
"He's happy" He had mumbled, pulling his hoodie sleeves over his fingertips. Looking over at the sister of the spirit that had been visiting him.
"How would you know? You don't know where he is, or what he's feeling."
"He's here, in this world. He has unfinished business, talking to you. He doesn't want you to be sad, for you guys will be reunited one day and he'll be looking over you until that day comes."
"you're lying, i don't even know you. No one believes ghost and spirits are actually real."
"you're right, you don't know me. but that doesn't make me a liar. There are plenty of people that believe and i can tell you from personal experiences they do exist." The boy set his hand down on Angeline's shoulder, causing her to look at him with her teary eyes.
"What did he do for me on our 14th birthday? and Why?" She questioned.
The boy who she had yet to learn the name of looked up past the gravestone waiting for the spirit of Angeline's brother to answer her question.
"On your 14th birthday he convinced you to have a joint birthday party because nobody had come to yours in the years past and he didn't want you to be alone on your birthday anymore."
"b-but how? There's no way." Angeline cried out when she felt the presence of a hand being placed on her other shoulder, the boy sitting next to her had placed both of his in his lap.
"It's time for him to move on"
"Tell him I love and miss him. and that im so very sorry that I couldn't have stopped it." Angeline wiped the tears from her cheeks with the boys coat sleeves as she sniffled.
"he can hear you." he reassured her, smiling at her softly.
"Johnny.. I miss you. I miss you more then anything, you were my rock and now you're gone. What am I supposed to do? How do I go about living without you?" Angeline's sobs escaped her lips, as she clutched onto her body.
"He said you've already found your new rock, you just don't know it yet."
"What is it?" Angeline looked up with a hint of hope in her eyes, the loss of her brother had taken such a bad turn in her life. She really needed some good.
"Me"
"I love you Jonathan, Thank you for always taking care of me, Thank you for being there for me in my rough times, Thank you for loving me unconditionally, Thank you for being the best brother any girl could ask for."
"He's gone" She broke down in the strangers arms, this wasn't the first time he was dealing with something like this but this time was different.
This time he felt something different, something he'd never felt before.
"Thank you, What's your name?" She looked up at him, a small smile on her face.
"Zach."
"Thank you Zach."
