When Kirishima woke up he could feel the heat from the fire and he heard voices. They were muffled but he could make out four of them. Kirishima's eyes fluttered open and his face grew hot when he saw how close he was to a girl's face. She looked down at the dragon with concern and finished putting a wrapping on his eye. "Hey you're awake," she said in a cheerful voice a looked behind her. suddenly there was another person in his face, but this time it was a boy. He looked down at Kirishima and pushed up his glasses. "Take it easy' you have a concussion" But that didn't stop him. He held his head as he sat up and looked around for Bakugou and when he saw him his heart sank. Bakugou looked like he was in a lot of pain. He took in shallow breaths and he was bandaged up head to toe. Kiri, disregarding his own injuries' quickly made it to Bakugous side and growled at the strangers. Kiri knew they were helping them, but he just wanted to protect his friend. The man with glasses put up his hands in defense and looked at Kirishima confusingly and the girl just smiled. "Hey, don't worry we're here to help you." she reached out her hand towards the dragon, like he was a frightened animal, and slowly crept closer to him. Kirishima slowly sniffed her hand and his mood changed completely. "See Ida he's just scared." Kiri flapped his wings slightly and cooed creeping closer to The girl. "But he looks Human, why is he acting like an animal?" Ida asked and watched as the girl pulled a bit of food from her bag. "Because he's a dragon," she said smiling and handing the food to Kiri. "Haven't you read about them or seen one?" she asked standing up from her spot and brushed off her clothing. "No, I haven't Uraraka! it's not like they are all over like they were a hundred years ago." As soon as Ida shouted Kiri placed himself between them and growled and winced at the sudden movement. "don't move so much ok." Uraraka said helping the dragon lay back down. Just as she did two sets of footsteps came from the darkness. "Todoroki, Deku your back did you find what we needed," she asked leaving the dragon's side. Deku nodded and handed her a small sachel and a few jars. "Is Kacchan awake yet?" he asked looking at the prince on the ground. "no..." she said sadly but then she quickly said. "but the dragon woke up! and he's super cute!"

Kirishima sniffed the air and his eyes glowed red again and he started growling at the two teen boys standing next to each other. "maybe it would be best if I stepped away for a bit..." Todoroki said trying to get away before Deku grabbed his arm. "No, not again Todoroki you have nothing to do with your father anymore." Todoroki sighed and knelt down to the dragon's level and looked at him and froze and Kirishima did the same. Kiri's expression changed again from Pure anger to tears. "Wait... I know you do I?" Todoroki said taking a step closer to the dragon. "Kirishima is that you?" he said softly and reached a hand out to him. At first, the dragon was confused but as soon as he looked into his eyes the memories came flooding back.

~Ten Years Ago in the Todoroki Empire

Five-year-old Kirishima was living in the barn with the rest of his kind. The barn was filthy and dark, something Kiri hated. His wings were clipped keeping him from flying and it's not like he even knew how. He was in his stall tucked away from all the rest. He was in tattered clothing that was far too big for him that was being held up by some rope. He sat in the far corner of the stall and whimpered at the sounds of his people crying and coughing from illness. He hated being alone, but as the grown keeper said... he was special. Just as he felt as if he would have been alone forever the door to his stall opened and the light from outside blonded him. As he tried to figure out what was going on a pair of strong hands grabbed him and pulled him out. Kirishima's legs wobbled as he walked and was dragged by the man. suddenly Kirishima was dropped to the ground and he looked up at the three people in front of him and his face paled.  He was at the feet of the King and Queen. The Queen was holding a small child with half and half hair.

The man spoke in a firm tone and pulled Kirishima up by his wing. "This is him?" Endeavor asked looking down at the small dragon as he cowered at his feet. "Trust me it's him. It wasn't easy to get him either." The man rubbed his fingers together and was handed a sachel of money. "He better be who you say he is or It's your head." The guy laughed nervously and handed the King the papers and left; back inside the barn. Kiri was lifted from the ground by the queen and held close to the little boy in her arm. "Shoto, meet your new dragon Kirishima." the two children looked at each other for a moment before Shoto hugged him and laughed putting a collar with the Todoroki family crest around his neck.

The next few years Kirishima was always by the princes' side protecting him and making sure he was on time for everything he needed to be at, you could say the two were best friends. However, when the two were thirteen though that's when things started to change. Shoto got more depressed and started to rebel against his father's wishes to be the heir to the throne. Every night Shoto and Kiri would sneak out to the Kingdoms walls and talk about leaving. How they would sail the seas, explore the world, and how eventually they would come home and set the dragons free.

One night on Shotos' fifteenth birthday The two were sitting on the top of the wall and Shoto was quiet. He was looking over the wall and sighed. Kiri looked at him knowing what he was thinking. "You know you could change all of this once your King right?" Kirishima said sitting by him. Shoto threw his crown to the floor causing Kirishima to jump. "I'm leaving tonight Eijiro," He said picking up a few bags. "I can't stay here anymore and I'm so tired of watching people suffer and being told I can fix it later!" Kirishima got up and smiled. "Is that really what you want my prince?" Kiri asked looking at him. Shoto looked down at the ground and nodded. Kirishima bowed to him and his eyes gave off a glow of a soft red. "As your last day as your dragon, I will grant you freedom even if it cost me my own.

The two teens started to come up with a plan. "I can't have you fly me over everyone would see you and dragons flying is forbidden," Todoroki said looking over the wall. "leave it up to me!" Kirishima said laughing. "All I have to do Is get you past the wall and you can run as far as you can right?" Kiri asked twisting and cracking his back and stretching his wings. Todoroki nodded and Kirishima grabbed his hand. The sky around the turned dark as Kirishima shifted into his dragon form and Todaroki climbed on his back. As soon as Kirishima took off a siren went off and the guards all started to swarm the streets. As they flew Todaroki put up ice walls in an attempted to get both of them out. They kept flying as Kirishima was pelted with arrows. "Kirishima where almost out we can do this together!" Suddenly a huge wall of fire started to block their blocked their path. "We can Make it Eijiro!" As he said that Kiri slid Todoroki to the tip of his tail and hid him in a tree. "What are you doing! we can make it out together." As he said this Kiri smiled and went back in his human form and went down to the ground and was tackled to the ground and his wings were grabbed. He was forced to his knees and here he was again looking up at the King. "where is my son?" he asked in a harsh tone. When Kirishima didn't answer he ripped off the collar on Kiri's neck and looked at the guards. "Throw him in with the rest of his kind. He will be sentenced to death in the morning for killing the prince.

~Present day

Kiri looked at Todoroki and tackled him in a hug. Even though it hurt him Kirishima wouldn't let go. Everyone looked in shock as the two held each other. "Uraraka can you heal Kacchan?" Deku said kneeling by the whimpering blonde. as she started to work on Bakugou the others were very confused by the dragon's actions. Kirishima found a soft spot near the fire as Todoroki told the other about his and Kirishima's past and he was the reason for the scars on Kirishimas back.
