CH-9: THE GENTLE GIANT

"Hey, you go in there first, ok?"

"Why should I, you're the one who wanted to see him!"

Nagisa sighed as she watched as Hinata and Kageyama were arguing in whispers.

"Oi, I'm curious to what Asahi-san looks like too but did you really have to drag we along with you?" She asked them with a half glare.

"Sato-san, you're good with people, so you can talk to him!" Hinata said to her.

She groaned and continued to watch them bicker but something caught her eye.

A tall guy with brown hair and brown eyes with a bun was walking away from the classroom with Sugawara following him.

"Wait Asahi!"

"Asahi?" The three first years' attention was caught with that name.

"Yes?" Asahi asked them.

Nagisa watched him curiously and Hinata hid behind Kageyama.

After a quick introduction from Suga, the ace said "Oh so you guys are first years, huh? And you're a manger?" He said the last part to Nagisa who nodded.

The more Nagisa looked at him the more intrigued she was by him "he's definitely shorter then Tsukkishima-kun but he looks more... Bigger? And he's much more gentle then he looks" were what she was thinking right now.

"Well you guys do your best!" And he was about to walk away but Hinata said "aren't you gonna be doing your best with us?"

"You're the ace, right?" Nagisa asked him while frowning slightly.

"Sorry but I'm no ace"

And with that he walked away since he had other stuff to attend to.

"Is he injured?" Kageyama asked Sugawara.

"No I think he's... Fallen out of love with volleyball"

"But he's so big and everyone calls him the ace!" Said Hinata.

"Asahi used to be the biggest and most powerful player in our team and he used to spike all of his tosses, but..." Sugawara stopped

At seeing the curious looks on his kouhai's faces Sugawara continued on "during a match one day, we were playing against this school and that time, all of Asahi's spikes got blocked"

"So he thinks that he's gonna hold back the whole team if he joins?" Nagisa asked to which Sugawara nodded saying "he's always put all responsibility on himself more than anyone I know..."

And with that the three first years left to go to the gym, running big steps while doing so.

Hinata let out a sigh "what's wrong?" Both Nagisa and Kageyama asked him.

"It's a strange reason for hating volleyball" he said

"I'm sure there were other reasons too" Kageyama said to him.

"Like what?" Both Hinata and Nagisa asked.

"Dunno, but perhaps we can change his mind" Kageyama said.

"Yay!!" Said Hinata as he jumped high happily and him doing this made Nagisa chuckle...
