To Be Good Enough (Spinel x Evil Human Male Reader)

Chapter 3 (Making Amore a male reader)

After Spinel studied and memorized the list given to her by Amore, she put it in her gem. She then approached her best friend and stood silently until he turned to her, still writing in the notepad.

Spinel: I memorized it.

Amore: Good, then repeat it to me. But before you do, I need you to say something to me and to really mean it.

Spinel: Okay.

Amore: I want you to say "I, Spinel of Homeworld, hereby acknowledge Amore Taren as my master. I will obey every rule, and obey every command he gives me, and accept every punishment I am given when I break a rule. I will never refuse his commands and punishments. I will memorize every rule he gives me. I will never disobey, degrade, cheat, lie, break a promise, and ignore him, and I won't let anyone else touch me. My gem, body, mind, and emotions are his to do with as he pleases. This contracts bounds us and cannot be null and void."

Spinel: Ehmm, what?

Amore: Say it.

Spinel: But, why? Why do you have to be my master and why do I have to be your slave? It doesn't make any sense to me. I just want to be your best friend. Y'know, equals.

Amore: Great, I was hoping this would be easier. Well, time for a little manipulating.

He looked up from the notepad and at her face before setting down the pen. Next, he gently put his free hand on her gem. Spinel instantly felt a blissful shock radiate her body. Not a literal one, of course, but one a person felt when experiencing pure joy. Spinel smiled brightly while Amore gave a faint one.

Amore: Because I feel like I need to be above everyone else. I feel like I have to be held higher because...I'm afraid sometimes.

His smile fell and soon after Spinel's did. Seeing him unhappy made her upset too.

Amore: If I have someone equal to me then I feel weak, and feeling weak is what I hate the most. The only reason I'm equal with everyone else is because nobody else but you knows my fear. So, I trust you to keep that a secret, and I like you enough to tell you. Do...do you like me enough to do this for me?

Her gem swelled with delight. She was so happy she felt like she could do anything.

Spinel: He trusts me! He likes me! Golly, those words make me feel like I'm INVINCIBLE!!!!! I have to keep making him happy, no matter what! He's the reason I'm so happy right now! Nobody else has made me this happy! Nobody else but...!

The image of Pink Diamond flashed in her mind but even that wasn't enough to make her smile falter. However, it did fill her with determination.

Spinel: She left me because I got annoying to her, because I became useless. That's why she left me. I just have to stay useful and not be annoying this time and I can keep Amore as my best friend!

Sudden realization hit her and she mentally gasped.

Spinel: That's why his note said "ENTRY 10: Spinel is a good gem but she's very disobedient. She wouldn't even stay in her room when I told her to. So, I don't think she can be useful. Well, maybe she can, if she stops making mistakes. Though, I guess Spinel at least wants to be around me, unlike Heather. Anyway, enough about her. Spinel has to be my best friend if she is going to be useful. END OF ENTRY."

Though he didn't like being touched suddenly, Spinel wrapped her arms around his body multiple times and buried her face into his neck. There, she felt so happy. It felt like she had her world in her grasp and just the thought of letting it go made her tighten her grip a little more.
