I knocked on Eliza's door. I had been here several times. Knocking felt weird. I always walked in, and she would be sitting on the couch, smiling, waiting for me.

The door opened and I almost fell forward.

"Hi." Her voice was so soft. It sounded as if she was scared. I was scared all of a sudden.

I walked in behind her.

"Why are you here again?"

"Eliza, please tell me if it was you who killed her. I know you didn't mean it. I know that's not who you are. But I need to know the truth. Please"

"I didn't kill her Thomas"

Why won't she just admit it?

"Eliza, everybody thinks it was either you or me. Who else could have done it?"

"Maybe someone who was there that-"

"Really? Do you really believe that? Please. I need to know. You're out of the picture to the police. I am the husband who killed his wife. That's what everyone is saying. Most of them are saying I killed her for you... I mean how can they even say that? Would someone really kill their wife for going out with someone else? Breaking up wouldn't be enough? How can they say that to me? Some think it's because she was pregnant, and some say because I was psychotic or something. I can't deal with this any longer. They are going to keep calling me for more interrogations and I-I I just can't I can't do it. The only reason they aren't throwing me in already is because they are waiting for the dealer to come back to tell them who really took the poison." I spoke so fast I could barely even breathe.

"WHAT?!

The doorbell rang suddenly I almost jumped.

"Who is it?" Eliza called out urgently.

"Officer Michael Ramanathan. It won't take long, this is urgent" His was was gruff but surprisingly calm.

I couldn't be here. This was wrong. No one could see me here. It would make the mess bigger. I needed to leave. But he was right outside.

Eliza seemed to have understood. She pointed towards the room and jerked her head towards it. I ran inside. I heard the door open.
