Julie's POV

"And then he said he'd be happy to save me if I ever needed saving" I finish with a big smile, retelling the events of last night/this morning to Flynn at lunch.

"Julie! You're making all this really hard for me." She says with a chuckle.

"What do you mean?" I ask curiously.

"I'm your best friend, obviously I want you to be happy, but I don't want you getting hurt. I know you really like Luke, but we don't even know how long he's going to stay here." She explains. None of this is new information for me. It's what I've been nonstop thinking about for the past few weeks.

"So you can imagine how hard this is for ME" I say, looking down at my food. "Why do I, of all people, after everything I've been through, have to be falling for a ghost? It's just not fair." Flynn slides closer to me on the bench and wraps her arms around me.

"High school is complicated enough, but we have to be dealing with ghosts and bands and dead people wanting to steal your soul." She says lightening the mood. We both chuckle. She pulls out of the embrace, continuing to eat her sandwich. "Speaking of bands, a lot of people are wanting to know when you guys are going to play again. As your fill in manager until you get a better offer, I have had a LOT of phone calls from people wanting to have you guys perform at their parties, venues, and a bunch of other stuff."

"I don't know Flynn, I think the guys and I need a bit of time. With the whole almost dying again thing, they're gonna need a break, plus we don't know what Caleb is up to. For all we know he could be just waiting for us to play a gig again so he can strike somehow." I say. Flynn is about to say something when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and see nick.

"Oh, hey nick" I say. Things have been pretty awkward between us since I turned him down. I haven't seen him since he came to bring me flowers, which I threw away because the guys got me much better ones.

"Hey Julie." He says, but it doesn't sound like his normal voice. It's deeper and not as playful as usual. I expect him to say something else but he just stands there, staring at me. It gets really weird.

"Uhm, did you need something?" I ask, breaking the silence.

"Oh, right, uh I was just wondering if you maybe wanted to hang out?" He says. Is he trying to ask me out again? I already said no to him. Then he adds "just as friends. I feel like we haven't really talked in a while."

"Oh um yeah sure, I'll be busy for the next few days, catching up on homework and stuff, but maybe this weekend sometime." I'm not actually busy. I'm just hoping by the weekend, he's forgotten about this conversation.

"Ok  sounds great" He says before creepily smiling at me then walking away.

"That was weird" Flynn said.

"Ok so it wasn't just me who noticed it." I say, relieved that I'm not just overthinking.

"He's probably just awkward because of you turning him down," Flynn says. I nod my head. It seems the most likely possibility. "So are you and Carrie's dad actually going to talk to Luke's parents?"

"I hope so" I say "hopefully we can get a plan together that doesn't involve the band being ruined. But I really think his parents won't want Bobby to go public. And we have the perfect excuse, after I gave them Luke's song, they've been wanting to have me over for dinner sometime." I think back to the sweet phone call I received from Emily, telling me I was welcome anytime, especially if I needed any kind of motherly advice about anything. I'll most likely be taking her up on that offer.

"Have you thought about telling them the truth?" Flynn asks.

"I have. I just don't know how they'll take it. Finding out that they're son who died 25 years ago is now a still 17 year old ghost and plays in a hologram band? They'd think I'm crazy" I answer. But still, a part of me wants to let them know that their son is still with them, watching them.
