8 ~ Regret

Julie's POV

"Luke I'm so sorry" I whisper. His eyes start to fill with tears, my face is already dripping with them. 

"Wait what's going on?" Alex says, walking towards us. He sees my wrist as well and looks just as shocked and upset as Luke. Reggie is the next to approach, same reaction.

"I knew it" Luke whispers, barely audible. 

"Thats not all" I say through sniffles, remembering the envelope Nic- Caleb slipped into my jacket pocket. I pull it out. The front is blank but the back has the Hollywood Ghost Club stamp, sealing it shut. I hand the envelope to Luke. He quickly opens it and reads it. Then passes it to Alex and Reggie to read. Then they hand it to me. They all look defeated. The letter reads,

 𝙲𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚕𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚠𝚗 𝚎𝚡𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝚠𝚊𝚜𝚗'𝚝 𝚎𝚗𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑 𝚝𝚘 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚝𝚘 𝚌𝚘𝚘𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎. 𝚂𝚘 𝙸 𝚝𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝, 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚍𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚢 𝚌𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚝 𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝? 𝙸𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚊𝚕𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚝 𝚝𝚘𝚘 𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚢. 𝚃𝚑𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚎𝚡𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝚘𝚏 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚍𝚎𝚊𝚛 𝚋𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚖𝚊𝚝𝚎, 𝚜𝚠𝚎𝚎𝚝 𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚕𝚎 𝙹𝚞𝚕𝚒𝚎.  𝙾𝚑 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚛𝚢, 𝚒𝚝 𝚍𝚘𝚎𝚜𝚗'𝚝 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚋𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚠𝚊𝚢. 𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝙸 𝚠𝚊𝚗𝚝. 𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚠𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚖𝚎. 𝙱𝚞𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚋𝚎𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚖𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚜𝚞𝚛𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚛𝚞𝚗 𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎, 𝚝𝚑𝚘𝚜𝚎 𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚖𝚙𝚜 𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚜𝚎 𝚘𝚗 𝚕𝚒𝚏𝚎𝚛𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚗 𝚘𝚗 𝚐𝚑𝚘𝚜𝚝𝚜.

I finish reading and look up at the others. 

"Well we know what we have to do" Luke says with confidence. 

"No! You guys can't do that for me. I won't let you, we'll just have to figure everything out" I say. Trying to convince myself mostly, I don't want to show the guys how scared I actually am. I saw how bad those jolts were when they had them, now I'm going to have to deal with them? I'm terrified. 

"Julie, it would be so much easier if we just-" Alex starts. I cut him off.

"I said NO! We'll think of something else. It can't be that hard" I say. That's when the first jolt hits me.

Luke's POV 

There's a flash of purple light and Julie clutches her stomach, doubling over in pain. I rush over to her side and hold on to her. 

"Julie are you ok?" I urgently ask.

"Yeah I'm fine" she gets out. I help her over to sit on my couch. 

"Caleb was right, we didn't get jolts that bad until at least five or six days." Reggie says. 

I sit down next to Julie and rub small circles on her back. She's feeling the after effects of the jolt.

"Then we better think of a plan quickly, before it's too late." Alex says. There's a moment of silence before Alex speaks again. "Hey reg, uh lets go talk to willie. I'm sure he will be willing to help us. And we'll need him if we have any chance of beating Caleb"
