17 ~ We Did It

Caleb's POV (🤮)

I can't explain how nervous I am. The last time I went to see Cassandra was the day after I died. It was just too much, I couldn't bear to keep checking up on her. I spent the last few years of life putting my career and dreams before my own family. When I died, she must have thought I was some kind of jerk who didn't care about anyone. Will she even want to talk to me again?

I'm just glad I have Alex Reggie and Luke here with me. I don't think I could do this on my own. 

"You ready?" Alex says as we all walk out of the club.

"I guess so" I say hesitantly. We form a little group so we can all teleport together. 

I teleport us a few houses away from what I know is Cassandra's current residence. Although I didn't personally check up on her all these years, I tried my best to keep tabs on her which was hard because she completely erased every tie to me. She changed her name, moved to a different state. She even payed someone to delete all records of her relations to me. 

"Where are we?" Alex asks.

"Yeah is that snow?!" Reggie says excitedly.

"We're in Grand Rapids, Michigan." I answer. "And yes that's snow" Reggie jumps in and starts making a snow angel. 

"Reggie, we have things to do" Luke says sternly. 

"Which house is Cassandra's?" Alex asks. I point down the street.

"That big one with the white pillars and the pool." I say, 

"Pool?" Reggie perks up "can we jump in?!" 

"Dude, it's closed cause it's winter" Alex says.

"Wait, people here have to close their pools in winter?" Reggie says. Alex and Luke roll their eyes and I chuckle a little. 

"That's a really nice house. I guess she's done well with her life" Alex says.

"Yeah, she married some rich musician. I guess she knows what being related to someone successful is like now" I say. It hurts to know that someone else was able to achieve their dreams AND take good care of her. Cause I couldn't do either.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" Luke asks eagerly as he starts in the direction of Cassandra's house. The rest of us follow close behind.

We stop at the end of the driveway, the guys nod for me to continue without them. I take a deep breath and try my best to shake off all the nerves. I exhale one last deep breath before walking to the front porch and ringing the doorbell. 

Luke's POV

This is it. In just a few minutes I'll be holding my Julie in my arms again. I'll be holding her knowing she's safe. I'll be able to protect her from everything. I'll make sure she never gets hurt again. Because that's what love is. Doing everything you possibly can so that someone is safe and happy.

I can't hold in my excitement I start to lightly bounce up and down with a huge smile on my face.

"Someone's excited" Alex says with a smirk. 

"I can't believe it's working! We get to see Julie soon!" I squeal. Alex chuckles lightly. We both look over to Reggie who's running around. It looks like he's chasing something?

"Reg?" I call over to him "watcha doin over there bud" 

"I'm trying to catch this butterfly!" He yells, keeping his focus on the insect flying above his head. He holds out his finger and the butterfly comes and lands right on it. Reggie's face lights up. "Quick! Does someone have a jar or something?!"
