Alex was lying on the floor of her bedroom, just staring up at the ceiling of her room, watching her watch, as it was getting nearer to the time, for her next class.

She sighed quietly, as she stood up with a grunt of annoyance and when she opens her door to leave her room, she jumped and damn near screamed, when she saw that Cassie was in the immediate space behind it.

"What. The. Fuck?" Alex snapped at Cassie impatiently, as the older girl in a moment of silence, stepped past her and into the room. "Oh, sure, come on in." Alex said very much sarcastic and Cassie growled at her.

"You need to find a trigger for your wolf and real fast, because in the next 12 hours, the pack will be coming, full on after you for your pledge. If you're not planning to pledge, they are going to kill you." Cassie said, as Alex's eyes bulge out of their sockets almost, as if someone was trying to choke her.

"Way to go, Cassie. You scared her stiff, you poor kid." Hamish said and Alex growled sharply, and finding the sharp tone again, and, she snarls now.

"We've got a problem." Hamish said and suddenly the ringing hit them all hard, and Alex staggered towards the wall and rather not gracefully, turned and smacked head-first into it.

"Ooh."
"Ooh."

The two older werewolves said and Alex growled from the floor and they all looked at each other.

"Look, we have to go deal with the threat. You can come with us both to help us fight it, or not, that is your and your choice alone. But the pack will be coming." Hamish said and the two raced off together and leaving Alex on her own, alone once again, in front of an empty space. Leaving her alone with her own thoughts and her only partially sane mind, yet again.

Alex had her backpack over both of her shoulders, and she sighed quietly as she walked by her real old, stalwart truck, who was goin' into the shop, for a new steering wheel in a few days.

She began the long walk down to the English building, where since she was choosing to major in English since she wanted to become a teacher, she was spending most of her time there and a lot of it was writing and reading, as it always was with English.

She was walking into the English building, when she heard the high pitched ringing again, and she held a hand to her left temple, willing for a certain werewolf Beta, to stay the fuck down, in the dirt.

Beta was successfully staying down for both of their sakes at the present moment, but then, the both of them at once, they heard the howling.

"Shit." Alex whispered with a low growl, that was Beta's contributions now at the moment, to the definitely quite one-sided conversation between them.

Alex ran off down the stairs leading up to the English building, and ran off toward the source of the howling, and she was growling savagely now.

She raced into the clearing and she dropped her backpack at the edge of the clearing.

She slammed to a stop in the middle of the clearing, and saw that the pack had found humans, who were, white eyed and under the influence of a sort of magic.

But what was arguably scarier, was that there was a bunch of witches in the clearing as well, casting spells to warn the werewolves to keep back.

Alex saw the werewolves going for it anyways and many of them they were all in, going for the strongest of them.

She saw Cassie fall and the scream that erupted from her throat, was a tortured howl of a person, who lost a dear friend, a member of her family.

The howl, it rippled through the clearing and the werewolves howled when they saw Cassie fall, and Beta in the full wolf form, it rose again.

Beta charged quickly, ripping through the witches and the witches screamed and cried out for mercy, but, Beta, she was being driven by Alex's fierce pain and the grief, that had been slowly all for a long time, swallowing up any of Alex's humanity that she had left.

When she finally stopped, only one witch remained and at the sight of the rest of the pack, she screamed and she ran as fast as her legs could carry her away from them all.

Alex crouched next to Cassie, her fingers against her neck, checking for a pulse, and she shuts her eyes, and it was tears that rolled down her cheeks after she had dared to open them to look up at the pack.

"She's dead." It was a whisper that was so quiet to anyone else, but right now, with a silent scream of death, in their ears, it was seemed so much like it was screamed.

Hamish was the last one to come back, and his face made it very clear why. "She seemed invincible." It was a good idea to believe in, but everyone here knew, that no one was ever truly invincible.

"I pledge myself to the cause." It was barely louder than a whisper but they all heard it, loud and clear, as they all turned to her.

"What?" Hamish asked, as they look around at the other dead werewolves as three others had died today, leavin' Hamish, Alex and Sienna, a quiet one who was mute and had never spoken a word in her life.

"I said, that I pledge myself to the cause." Alex spoke clearer this time and Hamish nodded and looked at the silent form of Sienna, who was the senior in the pack now, as the others were dead.

She bowed her head in an nod of acceptance as well, and Alex's eyes burned with pain, but it wasn't alone in her eyes.

There was determination, pain, rage and fury at every one of those witches who had dared to attack their pack, as they had been tryin' to defend the rest of their own.

"You're one of us now." Hamish said and she looked down at the bodies all around them, and he shut his eyes for a minute or two, before opening them and seein' that Alex had shut all of the eyes on the dead bodies. "Thanks." He mumbled, and Sienna had disappears, as she was prone to doing.

"I didn't get to do it for Jacob." Alex spoke up and Hamish sighed quietly at the reminder, as they both began to bury the bodies.

Sienna came back with shovels eventually and Alex looked over at her.

"What?" She signed to Alex, who chuckled quietly.

"She said..." Hamish began, but was pleasantly surprised, to see that Alex was signing back to her.

"Jacob told me that one of his best friends was mute. I learned how to speak sign language, in case I ever met you. He taught me." Alex signed and at her signing, Sienna's eyes lit up with a gleam of gratitude.

"You just made her day." Hamish mumbled to Alex, as she nodded a bit at his words, as they finished up, with the bodies.

"I'm just glad I could make somebody's day." She murmured quietly and Hamish hugged her a little awkwardly, and she winced at the painful look on his face.

"Ow!" Alex shouted at the fact, that something had just hit her, freaking hard on the back of the head.

"Shit... what the..." She began to say until this time, Hamish cursed in a bit of pain.

"It's Sienna." He said and Alex raised her eyebrows, at the silent werewolf, who already had another pinecone in her hand.

"That would explain it." Alex said quietly and they all walked away, and this time, none of them were alone, in their grief.
