Taco P.O.V (We get to visit book in the hospital today :D)

"Taco?" My mom asked while on the phone. "Yeah? I'm listening" I told her, putting down my salad. "Mrs. Atheneum called." Mom placed her phone on the table. "Really? Was it GOOD news?" I asked. "Yes. More than good, actually. She said that the doctor's told her that Book is ready for visitation now! Mr. and Mrs. Atheneum are going to visit them tomorrow, on their off day from work. But they said that they wouldn't mind if you went to visit her first." My mom said. "REALLY?" I asked in shock. "YES!" My mom confirmed. I let out a squeak of joy, prepared to just get up and run out of the house. "Hold on, hold on! You can't walk three miles within the visitation hours, Taco!" My mom warned me, as if she could read my thoughts. "Then start up the car NOW!"

We finally reached the hospital that Book had been sent to. I couldn't wait to get inside, but my mom told me that I had to wait for her. I impatiently shuffled my feet closer and closer to the hospital until my mom finally got out of the car. I zoomed to the hospital doors and waited for my mom. She reached me and we both walked in. I couldn't keep still, I was way too excited. My mom told the lad at the desk her name and what she was here for, and then the lady told her the room book was in. "Okay, thank you." My mom said. I grabbed her hand and sprinted to the elevator.

I pressed the button fr the third floor. While in the elevator, my feet were bouncing up and down out of impatience. "Hurry up elevator!" I joked. Finally, the elevator stopped and the doors opened. The hallway was long, the walls were white and the floor was made up of different shades of blue tiles. Suddenly I felt very nervous. I wondered how Book would react to me being the first one to visit her. I took a few deep breaths, calming myself and telling myself she would be happy to see me. I knew I would be VERY happy to see her. I missed her a lot, and I was really worried.

I ran my fingers along the wall as I walked down the hallway. Room 328... that's where she was. I counted the doors. 310...312...314...

316... No... not this one

318... No... not this one either...

320... Almost... only eight more doors...

322... Close...

324... CLOSE...

326... CLOSE... so close! two more rooms...

328... CLOSE...

Wait-

THERE!

I reached the door. "Go on in, you don't have to wait for me." My mom encouraged. I smiled at her as a thank you, and then went into the room. Book was laying down in the hospital bed, reading one of the novels they had beside the bed. "Wha-? Taco?" Book asked. "Yeah! Hey, Book. How are you feeling?" I asked, hoping she wouldn't notice I came to visit her before her parents. "Better than I was. Apparently my knee was broken. I'm going to have to wear a cast for two months." She explained, sitting up. "At least it's not permanent, right?" I tried to lighten things up. "Yeah, THAT would suck!" She said, laughing a little. "How much longer will you have to be in the hospital?" I asked. "About a week." Book said.

"So what have I missed?" Book asked me. "Well, Lollipop has been angry about not getting a girlfriend yet, and Saw and Gaty are still denying their feelings for each other..." I said. "So, I didn't miss much of the stuff that has HAPPENED? That's a relief," Book said. "What do you mean "none of the stuff that has happened"? I thought that's what you meant?" I stared at her, confused.

"Well, I guess in some ways I did. But I also meant it as a GUESSING question. WHO have I missed?" Book re-explained, sticking her tongue out at me. I stuck my tongue out back at her. My cheeks heated up. I swear, if I had been looking in the mirror I would have seen someone in front of me with a tomato head. "I missed you too, dummy! And I bet everyone else has as well." I assured her. "I can't wait to finally go back! The hospital has NOTHING to do. I have to sit here all day every day! All I can do is read and make sure I don't become stupid." Book complained.

"That doesn't sound fun," I sympathized. "It's NOT!" Book crossed her arms. "Well, let me tell you something. once you are let out of the hospital, we are going to do TONS of things!" I exclaimed. "I bet there's not much that a kid on crutches can do," Book sighed. "There will be! I promise!"

"Taco," My mom called to me, "Visitation hours are almost over. We have to leave." I sighed. "Sorry, Book. I have to leave. I'll be back before the end of the week!" I told Book, who just sighed and laid down. I gave her a quick kiss on the forehead before getting up. "I'll see you soon, Book. I promise," I said, "Love you!" Book laughed a bit. "I love you too, Taco."

I left the room, meeting up with my mom outside. "How's she doing?" My mom asked. "Fine. She can't wait to get out of the hospital though." I told my mom. "When will that be?" she asked. "In about a week," I explained. I honestly couldn't wait, either. I had only been away from her for a few seconds and I already missed her. I felt bad that she had to go through missing everyone AND having nothing to do. "Well, you'll see her again on Thursday." my mom reminded me. "Yeah, I know. I just wish Thursday could come sooner."
