It didn't take long for Leila to adapt to life in Berk.

Fortunately, Stoick knew a widowed woman who had no children. She had offered to take care of Leila. That woman's name was Christel and she took very good care of her.

«What a coincidence», Leila thought from time to time.

No one could replace her mother, but she didn't want to spend the rest of her life feeling devastated by that. Now she had a home, and above all, a best friend. That was what really made her happy

She had also met other children in Berk, who called them "companions" of Hiccup. But it was more than obvious that they were not even the same age.

That made rage Leila

How was it possible that they did not realize the loyalty and affection that Hiccup gave?
Yes, she was sure of something. They would never be your friends. She didn't like the idea that they took advantage of the weakest, or just made fun of them. How much would she give to shut their mouths and prove that everyone was wrong about her friend

Leila would never forget who they were

(...)

It was a night when Leila left without Mrs. Christel's supervision. She didn't want to hear from anyone at that time. Jealousy and sadness were her only thoughts

She wished with all his soul she had never seen that scene. The one where Hiccup was walking next to a girl she hadn't seen before. Just remembering it caused her more melancholy.

She saw them from the side of Mrs. Christel's house. They both looked so happy together. And it was to be imagined. Leila seeing that girl felt insignificant. It was really pretty compared to her
Even "Pretty" was not suitable. She was beautiful

That broke her heart.

Maybe Hiccup was no longer happy with her and sought a replacement.

«What would happen to the promise?» She thought as she walked in the dark through the woods

Probably... she would be the only one who still had hope in that promise

Leila sighed slowly and took a seat on a rock. The big trees covered much of her sight, so she looked at the sky and watched the moon for a good while. Leila was upset with herself. It was nothing for her "best friend". She thought and thought until she could reason with a little logic
Hiccup could have more friends besides her. He was not her property. He was free to be friends with who he wanted

Leila clenched her fists. She was behaving like those children who bothered Hiccup. She absolutely had to talk to Hiccup and clarify what was happening to him. When standing up, noises were heard behind her.

She look around and unable to see clearly, she began to worry

The cracking of dry branches and leaves on the ground grew closer. A few steps approached more and more until from one moment to another, Leila had two huge men at her sides. They were full of strange tattoos and huge but malicious smiles showed on their faces.

Leila swallowed nervously and began to back away from fear of what those two could do to her

"Wow..." -said one of them- "What does a little girl do alone at this time of night?"

"Did you get lost, perhaps?" -Continued the other

"N-No ..." - stammered Leila - "I just came for a walk, but I was leaving"

"So soon?" We just arrived and... we just want some company... "-the first man took a sack from his back and slowly began to approach Leila

The little girl tried to escape from these men, but it was in vain, since the one who had her hands free managed to catch her and so that she could not ask for help or even shout, she covered with her huge hand Leila's mouth

As much as she tried to get rid of that trap, her forces were insignificant compared to those horrible subjects. With ease, they managed to get Leila to that sack and without anyone noticing his presence, they went to a ship that was waiting for them not far from Berk

That crew was engaged in the illegal trade of servants.

They were nothing less than rude and heartless merchants who, like Leila... kidnapped and sold to people in order to mistreat and sell them without regrets

From that night on, the hell Leila would have to live was just beginning
