Part 7 Finding peace

(Y/N) POV

I jolt up from my bed, having woken from the same damn nightmare. I was panting so fast my heart was racing. Delta scares me when he jumps on the bed and tries to calm me as he whines. I hug him right but being careful not to cut myself from his bone armor. When my breathing finally comes to a steady pace, I let go of Delta and lie back down on my bed as he looks at me. My hands were still shaking a little from adrenalin. At that moment, I finally realized that my body was covered in sweat. Delta comes and lies beside me as he lays his head on my chest and licks the bottom of my chin. I pet him gently on the head in thanks. I was startled a little when I heard a knock at my door. "(Y/N), are you okay in there?" I hear a feminine voice say sounding concerned. I get off my bed and quickly put on some sweatpants and a shirt to answer the door. When I open it, I see Blake with a concerned expression on her face but her eyes quickly widen. "Oh my god! What happened to you?" She asked in shock, which confused me. "Don't worry. I'm fine." I lied to her but she didn't buy it. "(Y/N), your face is bleeding." She tells me as I reach up to my face and wince when I touch my left cheek. I must've hurt myself when I was sleeping if you can call it that. "Well, thanks for telling me I'll dress it later." I told her and tried to shut the door. But before I could fully close it, she put her hand out to stop it. I once again opened the door as she gave me a serious look. "No, that will get infected if you don't dress it now I can help you." She said to me with pleading eyes but I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "It's fine, Blake. This isn't tha-" She cut me off again before I could finish my sentence. "Please (Y/N) let me help...please?" She said softly; I don't know what it was, but I felt that I couldn't deny her help as I sighed in defeat. "Okay..." I mutter as I open the door and step out of the way. She walks inside and takes a look at my dorm, which wasn't in the best condition despite me only being here for three days. "Do you have anything for cuts?" Blake asked looking around. "Yeah, over here." I handed her a decently sized medkit. She took it and began to rummage through it while I took a seat on my bed. "Why did you come by here exactly?" I asked her, skeptical of her kind actions as she gave me a gentle smile. "I was having trouble sleeping and was going to take a walk until I heard you yelling when I walked by your door." She said as she made her way to me, then noticed Delta lying down beside my bed and jumped when she saw him. I couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction "I take it you're not a dog person?" I asked her as she looked away almost in shame. "It's not that I dislike dogs, it's just......." her words trailed off as I sighed and answered for her. "You're a cat Faunus, aren't you?" She looked at me, surprised, which turned into worry. "How did you know?" she asked, scared of what my reaction was going to be. "Lucky guess." I tell her shrugging. "Also, I noticed your bow twitching now and then. That's exactly where your ears would be." She looks down, ashamed as her bow bends. "Hey, why the glum look?" As I asked, she shook her head and looked up at me. "Sorry. It's just... I feel that people won't like me if they knew I was a Faunus." She said as she kept her head down, avoiding eye contact; I nodded my head and looked at her. "I understand. Your secret is safe with me" I tell her as she looks up and smiles at me. She then walks over and sits beside me on the bed she takes a cotton ball and presses it to my cheek. I wince at first but the pain quickly becomes tolerable. "Are you really okay, (Y/N)?" she asked making me confused. "What do you mean?" I asked her. "I heard what happened with Ruby and Yang's father, and people overheard Ozpin yelling at him, saying he abused you or something." my eyes slowly look away from her when she says this. "It was a long time ago..." I told her as she looked at my reaction. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up." she apologized, but I waved it off. "Don't be; you had nothing to do with it." when I said that, she finished what she was doing and put a small patch over my cut as she smiled at me. "There. That should be good enough until later." She tells me that's when Delta stands from where he was lying and rubs his head against Blake's leg, making her jump, weird. He's never been this friendly with anyone but me. "P-please, make him stop..." she begged me as I chuckled. Delta moves his head back, his ears drop, and he whimpers a little. Blake then looks at him with a bit of guilt. "I think he likes you; It's okay. You can pet him." I said but she hesitates to put her hand out to pet him. But when her hand rests on the top of his head, his tail starts wagging from happiness. "Ha! See? He likes you." I chuckle as she nervously laughs. She then gently pets him. I look over at the clock on my nightstand. We had about thirty minutes before our first class started. "Hey, we should get ready, class starts soon anyway." I told her as she nodded her head. "Do you want to walk to class together again?" She asked me as I shrugged. "Sure I don't see why not." I tell her with a smile I see a small blush on her cheeks. "Okay, I'll wait outside." She said as she walked out of the dorm, and I shut the door behind her. I quickly get dressed and walk with Blake and Delta to Port's class. "Hey." she says to get my attention. "Are you doing anything after classes?" She asks as rest my arms behind my head. "Delta and I always take a walk in the Emerald Frost after classes. He may be a grimm, but he still acts like a normal dog. You're welcome to come with us if you want?" I tell her, and she agrees to meet after school. I couldn't help but smile at the idea of her joining us. As I went through classes, I noticed Yang and Ruby glancing at me from the corner of my eye. I just know they're going to try something to earn my forgiveness as if that'll ever happen. When classes end, I wait for Blake at the front entrance since she said she had to take care of something real quick which I don't mind. As I was waiting, my scroll started riding, and I answered it. "Hello?" I asked and received a reply "Hey, (Y/N)!" I hear Dad's voice over the scroll. "How are ya? How's Beacon treating ya?" He asked as I chuckled. "It's going pretty good so far." I tell him as he listens. "Nothing too major happened yet." I said; he then told me why he called: "I'm just calling to make sure you're alright. Virgil told me about your old family." I sigh when he says that. "Did they do anything to you?" He asked, concerned. "No, I'm fine." I said to him to ease his concern. "Okay." He sighed. "How's your PTSD?" He asked me as Delta perks up. "Don't worry about that; Delta's always with me." I said to him "Okay. Well, if you need anything, just call alright?" He told me as I sighed, "Alright, Dad, tell Mom I miss her." I said as he chuckled, "I will, bud, oh, and one more thing. If a woman named Glynda Goodwitch asks anything about me, don't answer her." He deadpanned, but I chuckled "Yeah, sure, bye, Dad." I then hang up the scroll. I feel someone tap me on my shoulder. I turned around to see Blake as she smiled at me. "Hey!" she says as I blush a little, she has a cute smile. "You ready to go?" She asked me as I turned my face away. "Yeah, sure let's go." I tell her, and we walk to Emerald Forest; it was nice to get my mind off school, and Autumn gave the leaves a nice mix of colors. Normally, I don't let this side of me show, but I'm going to go crazy if I don't have a distraction, and walking with Blake was nice. She enjoyed talking about the books she's read but I wasn't into literature like she was, if at all. I just nodded every once in a while to seem like I was understanding her. I didn't care if I wasn't getting what she said, it's just nice to have someone to talk to for once. When we got to an area that wasn't surrounded by trees, we would play fetch with Delta for a bit until it was almost nightfall, we headed back to Beacon with only three grimm getting in our way. I walked Blake back to her dorm as we said our goodbyes. We both agreed to do this again sometime later and agreed to go on a date this weekend. This was weird I hadn't felt this way for a girl in a long time and im glad I did.

Blake POV

After our time to get her in the forest, we returned to our dorms and planned on going on a date this weekend. I wonder where he would take me? As I entered my dorm with a smile on my face, Ruby and Yang bum-rushed me and started to bombard me with questions.  I tried to answer them, but thankfully, Weiss pulled them off of me. "Give the girl some space!" She said as I looked at her. "Thank you..." I said as she turned to me, "You're welcome." She then looks at both Ruby and Yang as they calm down "Tell us again why did you get blake to closer too (Y/N)?" She asked as Yang crossed her arms with a frown. "So we can find out how to get him to forgive us!" She said as Ruby looked at me with pleading eyes. "Did he say anything about us?" I looked away avoiding eye contact. "H-he hasn't said anything yet... But im sure I can get him to talk on our date this weekend." I said as Ruby's eyes lit up with hope, and they hugged me. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Yang smiled at me "You are awesome blake thanks." I just smiled at them with uneasiness as Weiss just scoffed and went to her bed, and everyone did the same. I lay on mine, unsure if this is right, I want to help them, but at the same time, I want to help (Y/N) heal his old wounds. I care about him, now that I think about it... I found myself starting to fall for him.

Alright! I'm back! Sorry for the long wait for this chapter and others to come. I've been busy with my new job and all, so please be as patient as possible with me. I'll also think about working on my other stories that I started, I think, a year or two ago. So I will work on them when I get time for them. So for now, that is all I can do for today.
