(Y/N) POV

It's been about eight years since Dante took me in. He got Morrison to pull some strings, and I'm now legally Dante's adopted son, but I still keep in contact with Uncle Qrow. He taught me his heritage, his past with Virgil, and how to kill demons. When I was old enough I went on jobs with him a few times. At first, it was only small jobs, but as I got older, he let me go on jobs alone. Virgil, who I call uncle, told me about some woman named Salem and what her intentions are, and part of our job was to interrupt her operations seems tedious to me. Trish became my aunt, Mary, or how she liked to be called Lady, and became my mother figure in my life. She was there to take care of me when Dante wasn't around most of the time. I was sitting at the front desk, bored out of my mind. Dad was out on a job and Uncle Virgil was God knows where he is. I was just tossing a ball at the wall and Delta was trying to get it each time. I stopped when a man with a green scarf and cane entered the shop "Are you, Mr. Redgrave?" He asked me as I sat upright "Who's asking?" "My name is Ozpin. I'm sure you've heard of me." He said, expecting me to flip out, but I just looked at him uninterested. "Nope." I deadpanned as he nodded. "I see. Well, im sure you've heard of Beacon Academy?" He asked while I rolled my eyes "Yes. I have. Some kind of school for hunters, right?" The only reason I do is that Yang and Ruby wouldn't shut up about it when I was back at their house. "That's correct. I've been hearing a lot about you, Mr. Redgrave. I want to personally invite you to Beacon." He said to me as I looked at him with a raised brow. "You want to invite me? But I'm twenty years old. I'll be older than everyone else." I stated as he adjusted his glasses, "I understand, but I can make an exception for you." I sigh as I think for a moment, Then Dad walks in. "Hey, son." he then sees Ozpin standing in front of me. "Oz? You got another job for me?" He asked him but Ozpin shook his head. "No, I'm inviting your son to Beacon." He announced, shocking Dad. "Wait, really? I thought you didn't want us near that place." Ozpin pointed his cane in Dad's face. "I don't want YOU near Beacon because of the 'incident' from your time there." Dad's eyes widen, looking away as he rubs the back of his head while whistling. Ozpin turned back to me "Anyway, do you accept, Mr. Redgrave?" I look over at my Dad as he smiles and nods. I let out a quiet sigh and looked at Ozpin "Okay, I'll go. But under two conditions." I said to him "Name them." He responded, "I want to be on a solo team, and I wear the uniform the way I want." He sighs and nods. "It will be difficult, but I can make it happen." He said as I stood up from my seat. "Alright, when do I leave?" I said as he smirked at me "Tomorrow."

TAI POV

Ruby had come home excited, saying she was invited to Beacon by Ozpin himself! We all congratulated her and celebrated by baking the largest cookie, she did share it in the end. A little while later, I walk past Ruby's room and hear crying from inside Ruby's room. I went over and gently knocked on her door. "Ruby? Are you okay in there?" I hear her get up from her bed and she opens the door. "Hey, Dad..." her eyes were puffy and red from crying. "Yeah, everything's fine." She said I know she was lying as I looked at her. "Sweetie, I heard you were crying, please tell me what's wrong," I say as I put a hand on her shoulder. She started tearing up as she took out a picture from her pocket. It was a picture of Summer sitting on the couch with (Y/N) while he held Ruby when she was little, they were smiling... He was happy. My heart drops when I see it, It was the only photo we had of (Y/N). It was only found by chance when Ruby searched through (Y/N)'s room. She starts crying again. It was clear she missed her only brother. The day he disappeared, we were all angry. But we soon found out later that it was just denial. We never hated (Y/N); at least, I didn't. Raven and I just wanted him to be strong. I didn't do it to Yang and Ruby because I wanted to see if it would even work. But I was proven wrong. What broke me even more was the letter. He didn't say that he was angry, he was just sad that he thought he didn't meet our expectations. Some father I turned out to be. I hurt my only son and my daughters now have to live with the guilt of what we did to him. I step forward and hug Ruby to comfort her. "I know you miss him. We all do." I kiss the top of her head. "Why don't you go to bed, ok?." She nods and gently shuts the door after I leave her room. (Y/N), Wherever you are, I pray that you will forgive us. If not me or Raven, then please forgive your sisters.

------------

Alright, a bit of a sad boi hour at the end here, but who doesn't like to have their heartstrings pulled on, huh?! Anywho, again, thank you for taking the time to read, and please don't be shy about telling me what you think of this so far from the book. Thank you for your support, and as always, I'll see you on the other side of the void. Bye!
