After going around looking for food and stocking some water we silently started our walk.
After some time in silence, I started noticing more the forest around us. It was uncomfortably quiet, no sounds of insects or birds or any other animals, just the low sound of the cold wind shaking the trees' leaves.
It was like all the animals felt there were strange and dangerous creatures around and they all went away. Or the strange and dangerous creatures caught them first.
"So, Tessa" Alb said, dragging me back to reality. "There are a few things you need to know before we met the sorcerer." His voice was really weak. I just nod and he continues "as you seem to not know anything about your world, all start with the basics: sorcerers are very mysterious and wise people, and they don't like visitors."
"But-" I started.
"Yes, they don't like visitors asking for favours. Lucky me, I'm not asking for a favour." He paused to look at me and gave me the smallest smile, then continued "because he already owns me one."
"And how far away is his house?"
"Just a couple miles away now "
I didn't answer. He looks at me with his eyes full of curiosity.
"Are you gonna tell me your story, love? How did you end up in the middle of private property with no memory of vampires, sorcerers, even your own kind?"
Again, I didn't answer. What was I supposed to say? I had no idea either, and everything was really confusing right now. I didn't want to admit that I needed him to tell me things, to tell me who I was and what I needed to do.
"Not very talkative today uh" he mumbled " I get it, you don't trust me. Why should you? We barely know each other. But that's why I wanted to know why you stayed with me the last two days. You could just have left you know, we would never see each other again, I'd be dead..." he looked at me " but you didn't. Why?"
He had stopped walking, and I stopped too. His expression was dead serious.
"Well?"
"Of course I didn't." I responded " as you said, without me and my useless medicinal plants you would be dead, and I just couldn't do that."
"I never said they were useless. I said they would never gonna work.""Isn't it the same thing?"
"I've been beaten by a bloody Vampire, Tessa! No plant can cure that." He looked away.
"Are you crying?" I asked getting closer and putting one hand in his shoulder.
"Let's just continue ok?" He pushed me away and continued walking.
As I didn't know what to say I just followed him. As the time passed I was impressed by how long he had been walking without my help. His voice sounded as weak as ever but he somehow managed to keep on walking.
Who was this boy? How does he know so much about this creatures? I need answers, I need them quickly. Maybe he can tell me something about this voice in my head, and who this "angel" is. But right now the priority is to get Alb to this sorcerer. He tries to pretend it alright but I see he's struggling to walk and it's getting worse and worse.
"Want help?" I ask shyly.
"I'm fine" he replies without looking at me. I run to him and put his arm around me anyway, and we start walking together. "Thanks." He mumbles, contradicted.
"I don't remember." I say.
"What?"
"I don't remember how I got in that house, I don't remember why I was there, and God! I didn't even remember my name before you said it" I hid my face in my free hand.
"Hey, love, it's gonna be okay" Alb said in a soft tone. "You know what?" I could hear a little of his usual happy voice. " maybe you are under some type of spell, love. At least, It would explain why you're so beautiful..." he took my hand to see my face.
"Um... Spell?" I asked, slowly pushing him back. I could see a little disappointment in his eyes when his smile weakened.
"Yeah, like a memory block." He frowned " but it's weird because usually memory block enchantments are used just for a certain moment in time, not your whole life. It would require a really strong wizard to cast a spell this big... Seems like someone really doesn't like you, Snowie."
