Hands Down

It was about seven o' clock when I pulled up the the apartment complex. The rest of the girls were knocked out. We've had a rough long drive, I didn't blame them. I rubbed my eyes and then quietly jumped out of the car. I ran to the main office and was hoping that someone was still there. Thankfully it was open until nine. I got in and saw a younger woman sitting at the desk reading a Cosmo magazine. She looked up and saw me and her face brightened up.

"Hey welcome to The Villa, how can I help you."

"We're new tenants I just needed to pick up our keys, it should be under the name of Axel Diaz."

She started ruffling through paperwork and then smiled.

"Yeah it looks like the paperwork is all good. You just have to take these papers with you and make note of any damages in the apartment. You have until next Friday to get this turned back into us. Here are your keys, have fun moving in were glad to have you here." She said I tried not to roll my eyes. This damn apartment was so much more expensive than anything I've ever rented. I wish we could have rented a house but we needed something that would be ready for us when we got here and no real estate companies were really willing to work with someone on the other side of the country.

I grabbed the keys and went back to the car. I pulled up to the gate and put the code in and drove through. By the time I found where our building was the girls were starting to wake up.

"Damn this place looks better in person." Penny said as she stretched.

"We only got two keys, I mean we said there was four of us and we have a damn five bedroom apartment. We only had to sell our kidneys to get this place. You'd think they'd at least give us four keys." I groaned and Cherry kinda nudged me and smiled.

"Calm down girl, we'll get copies. But damn just think we're finally in LA!" Cherry said and did a little jig in her seat.

We all went up to the apartment and started moving essential stuff out of the UHAL.

We worked for about three hours and Kira finally spoke up.

"We have a big day tomorrow, we should probably just turn in so we can find a breakfast spot and get to the meeting on time ya know like for once in our lives." Kira said and stared at Cherry. Cherry finally noticed and tossed her hair over her shoulder.

"I'm always on time to everything." She said and we all laughed.

We finished up what we were doing and we each found a spot to sleep and passed out.

The next morning we got ready and Penny searched for a good spot to grab a bite to eat. We were off and running. We each got a coffee and a breakfast sandwich and headed to the office where the meeting was taking place.

The business was kind of on the small side. We sat in the waiting area and a a secretary called someone to let them know we were here. We had to laugh because when she said our band name she hesitated for a second.

"Hey the um Night Stalkers are here."

We heard the hesitation and tried not to laugh too loud. We have a real punk meets grunge sound and most of our songs are loosely based off of crimes and serial killers. I'm the biggest crime junkie in the group and with the newest obsession with true crime it's really helped us get more listeners. We even got some shout outs from some of my favorite crime podcasts. That was the most exciting moment of my life.

A gentleman that was clean cut with brown hair combed to the side and in a casual buisness suit came out to greet us.

"Hey I'm Mike, I'm one of the managers here and I'm the one you guys have mainly been talking too. It's great to finally put a face to the voices!"
