Head First

The weekend went smoothly. Kira and I checked out a few salons that gave us offers. We still had to update our license for California but the salons said that they would still hire them once they did that. We really wanted to work together, but most of the salons only had one opening. We each found one that we liked and started working on our state licensing. It wasn't hard for either of us to pass the test since we have been doing this for so long.

Monday finally rolled around and most of the girls already had their jobs lined up and schedules worked out. I was alone in the apartment and had the week off until I started working. I decided to pull out my laptop and take a look at the music I had started writing.

I had a file full of lyrics that I just had to fine tune so that we could all work on the music as a group. I had a good idea of what I wanted everything to sound like, but it initially came down to what we decided together.

I was laying on my bed looking through the files and I glanced over at the piece of paper on my nightstand. I wonder if I should meet up with Zach to talk to him about some of these songs. I pushed the thought out of my head. If I talked to essentially an outsider about music before the rest of the girls they would never let me down. Yet I still found myself looking over to his number.

I finally got up and went to the kitchen. Maybe a good cup of coffee would help me get on track. I started the pot and logged on to our band instagram. I looked through all of the comments and likes that we got on our road trip photos. We had some people that were happy we made the move and some that were upset. I guess you really can't make everyone happy.

The pot finally finished brewing. I put some creamer in my cup and them poured the coffee in. I took a drink and sighed. Coffee makes everything better.

I looked around at the boxes in the living room. I guess I could get the living room set up with all of my free time.

I started unpacking and setting up. We had luckily got everything moved out of the UHAL and got that turned in quick so that we didn't have to pay extra. We had to pinch every penny we could , out here in LA until we got our first record out and started touring.

I finally took a break and switched over to my personal account on instargram. I looked through the comments, likes and friend requests. I noticed there was a familiar name. Zach Villa, huh I'm surprised he added me so quickly. I shook my head. I was being silly he probably added all of the girls since we tag ourselves in our group photos on our band page.

I decided to take a look at his page. I was pretty impressed. He rode motorcycles and did so much. I looked up and smiled. I missed riding so much. Then I had a thought. I knew I should have pushed it out of my head but I just couldn't. I ran to my room and grabbed his number and typed it into my phone. I opened a text and then just stared at it. Would this be a good idea, this guy is my new boss. I mean it was a small label, maybe he's close with all of his bands. Maybe it wouldn't hurt. I finally started typing and before I knew it I pressed send. I got really anxious and my hands started sweating. Why were my hands sweating, its not like I just asked my boss out. Hopefully he didn't take it that way.

"We should grab a beer and you can look over some of what I have for the record and maybe you can show me your bikes."

Gah I hope that wasn't too forward. Hopefully he didn't think I was some weirdo. He probably regretted signing us now.

I threw my phone a little ways from me on the bed and went back to looking at the songs. Then I heard my phone buzz. I just looked at it, maybe it was him? No, he's a busy guy he can't be texting back that fast. I felt my hands start sweating again. Damn why was I so nervous.

I finally looked at my phone, it was Kira.

"Just got done with my last client and on my way home. I'm ready for a drink!"

I just laughed. She had to have had a rough first day if she already wanted a drink. I replied and put my phone back down. I shut my laptop and grabbed my tablet so I could get a little bit of reading done before she got home and I knew we would start drinking.

I heard my phone buzz again. I picked it up expecting Kira to tell me to have her drink ready for her by the time she got home. My heart started pounding, it was Zach.

"Sounds great I'd love to take a look, shoot me your address and I'll come grab you."

Holy shit, I could not believe this. I told myself to calm down. Just because he was a handsome guy and seemed to be flirting with you does not mean anything else.

I quickly texted Kira that I was going out. I knew I'd get the 5th degree from her and the other girls, but I would deal with that later.

I texted our address to Zach and he quickly replied with an ok.

I threw my laptop into my back pack and quickly changed clothes and did my hair. I didn't fuss with my make up cause I really didn't feel like it right away.

I heard my phone buzz again and I knew it was a call. It was Kira.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Where you going off too? We are your only friends in this town or did you already find a Tinder date?" She said and then started making sex noises. I just laughed.

I started to answer and then thought. Should I tell her I'm going out with Zach, would it upset her?

"I'm just going to grab a beer with the owner, he said he would look over some of the songs I got laid out. That's cool right." I couldn't lie but I also didn't want to call him by his first name and make it sound like something weird.

"Oooh, yeah go over music. I saw how he talked to you." Her tone got serious all of a sudden.

"Just promise me you will be careful. We've all heard stories how people in this position will take advantage of others. I know you're a bad ass bitch and you'll be safe." I smiled, we cared about each other so much. I couldn't have stared a band with better women.

"Yes mom I'll be safe. Don't worry I know how to handle myself."

We said our good bye's and hung up.

Just then I could hear the roar of a motorcycle outside. No way he got here that fast. This city was huge. Just then my phone buzzed.

"Come on out." It was Zach.

I threw my back pack on, ran out of the apartment and locked the door. When I got outside I saw him and went over. He had a full face helmet on with sun glasses on underneath. He was putting his kick stand down and glanced up and saw me.

"Heeey giiirl!" He said in a high pitched voice. It made me laugh a bit.

"Hey what's up?" I said as I got closer. I took a deep breath in and had to admire his bike. God, it was so beautiful. He must have read my mind.

"She's gorgeous isn't she?" He said as he held out another full face helmet to me. I shoved it on and smiled, and then realized he couldn't see it.

"Yeah, it's beautiful. I had a bike back in Florida, but we all sold everything to make the move out here. I hope to get another one soon." I said as he got on and I made my way on the back.

"I have a sissy bar, but you can hold on to me too. Which ever makes you more comfortable." He said to me and my heart pounded. The bike roared back to life before I could say anything stupid and we were off. I decided to just lean back and enjoy the ride. I barely knew this guy, I wasn't going to hold on to him. Maybe not yet.
