"ASTERIN, WHY DID YOU have to come dressed like this? I thought I was the birthday girl," Kiara complained, clearly not happy with my choice of clothes.

"Did I overdress?" I asked, patting down my black shorts and adjusting my top. I was wearing a blue and purple glittery sequined top which was one-shouldered and traced my figure perfectly. I figured since it was a party with all her friends who were around her age, I should dress accordingly to mingle with the lot.

"You are literally shimmering," she said and I chuckled, flicking her nose playfully. "Where is your man?"

"Jayce? Oh, he is on his way," I told her, taking in the people flooding in with fancy clothes. Many came to Kiara's side and pressed a present in her hands before vanishing into the party. Mirrorball was known for its intense parties and I had no doubt that it was going to be exactly that way.

"So, he is your man eh?" She wiggled her eyebrows.

"Wha– Oh! No, you know he is not," I told her, turning red.

"Actually, I don't know. Please enlighten me." She bumped her shoulders into mine and I rolled my eyes. I opened my mouth to defend myself but before that someone touched my hand from behind. I could feel that it was him.

"Where were you all this time?" I asked Jayce, who was dressed in a long beige coat over his black shirt, paired with ripped jeans. He looked sexy, as usual.

He scratched his neck lightly. "Um, I may have gotten lost," he said, causing me to laugh.

His blue eyes scanned me up and down and he let out a curse. "Oh my fucking goodness, Asterin- I- why do you look like this?" He said and Kiara snickered behind me. The blush reaching up my cheeks prevented me from nudging her with my elbows.

"Like what?" I asked, tugging the hem of my shorts. "Is it bad?"

His jaw clenched and he muttered something with 'self-control' in it but I didn't quite catch it. Kiara whispered in my ear to have fun with my man and quietly slipped away to join her friends. Jayce's eyes didn't remove themselves from me and I shoved him away. "Stop that," I hissed.

"Stop what?"

"Staring at me like that," I mumbled, feeling extremely conscious.

"Like what?" He asked again and then I looked at him to see him smirking. I smacked his shoulders but he caught my hand before I could pull it back. "You are fucking gorgeous, do you know that?" he whispered.

I blushed but didn't say anything. It was something trivial but I loved it when Jayce cursed. Maybe it made him look confident and extremely sexy. Maybe I was imagining it. But, boy, he made me hot all over with what he just whispered in my ear and my body was aching to feel more of his touch. I was spiralling without even having a sip of alcohol. What was happening to me?

He pulled me to the drinks table. "I don't know why Asterin but I am so happy right now," he confessed and I glanced at him with questioning amusement. He sipped the drink from the red cup and asked for a refill.

"Maybe because of the party. I am experiencing all this after four years. The rush of adrenaline is extreme," he shrugged and I smiled, downing my drink.

"Were you a party animal?" I teased.

He grinned. "I was. I told you I knew almost everyone so I was invited to a lot of parties. These parties made up three-fourths of my high school life." He sipped his drink again. As he recalled all of his major 'accidents' in his youth parties, our drinks kept refilling.
