~~~Ponyboy~~~
"You sure have my blood in ya, kid! A kiss on your first date!" Soda came and hugged me tight. I was never real good with girls- they were something even Darry thought I used my head about, but I just never really fell for that stuff. Soda told me I would someday. I never really was interested in girls until I saw Marina.
"So what was it like, Ponyboy?"
"It was real sweet. I was dropping her off at her front door, and she kissed me on the cheek to say goodbye, and then, well glory, it just happened
"Congratulations kiddo, your first girlfriend," commented Darry.
"I haven't actually asked her to be my girlfriend yet Dar," I said, smoothing hair out of my face."
"Aw Ponyboy, you gotta ask her straight on the spot," Soda said.
"I know, I was gonna, but she went inside."
"Huh."
"Where's everyone?"
"They went home to sleep Ponyboy, it's late. Johnny's in the lot. You go to bed too, Hmm?" Darry said, shewing me away. I slept like a baby.
~~~Marina~~~

Last night I told my mother all about the kiss, the conversations we had, and how oddly good the pizza was for the cheap place we went to. I would ask Pony to take some friends and show me around town. My mom wanted to know around the place too. She asked if she could meet Ponyboy's parents, so I told her about Darry instead. She said it'd be mighty fine, Pony showing me around and Darry showing her. She said we could go to a diner after and she'd treat us all to chocolate malts. I didn't want to have my time with Ponyboy chaperoned by my mom and his oldest brother, but I had to be content with that because she had really been wanting to see the town, so I didn't complain.

When I met Ponyboy in his front yard to toss a football back and forth, I told him all about it. He whined but went along with it, telling Darry not to embarrass him.

When we did go, it was pretty cold. Pony gave me his jacket, but he got cold so Darry gave him his. Mom did tell me to bring one, but I had already been at the Curtis's yard and wasn't going to go back. The boys showed us all around town, and mom took us to a diner she saw an ad for in the newspaper that supposedly had the pest chocolate malts in town. They were pretty good, can't lie.

"Later we'll go somewhere that's not a drag," whispered Pony in my ear.

"Ok Ponyboy, what time should I come? We have school tomorrow, remember."

"Well, It's one now, because the big clock just struck. I'll come to your backyard at 3."

"There's a big bay window in our kitchen. Mom will see you."

"What are you two whispering about?" Darry asked.

"Oh, just school. He's telling me around and we didn't want to interrupt your conversation about football teams," I thought quickly.

"Please," said Mom. Darry pointed at her and rolled his eyes. Pony and I giggled.

"Alright then. Come, we should go. I'm expecting a phone call at 2 for a job." She and I stood up. I went to kiss Pony goodbye, but my Mom cleared her throat and we awkwardly shook hands instead.

"My bedroom window, the one with the stuffed puppy sitting on the sill," I whispered in Pony's ear. He nodded and we waved bye to each other as we got in our cars.

"Ponyboy," I whispered to myself. I was drawing in my bedroom waiting for him. I wore a leather jacket and one of my mom's old dresses from when she was a teen.
