In one of my nightly musings,
A notion came to me like a shiver in dawn,
That greed is Aphrodite, aliking
A different monster for each human being.
She once took the form of glamorous shoes.
Like the one Marcos bought
Cause he was so in love with his missus
Even if it means he had to embezzle loots.
She presented herself as a government position.
Like the one Roque reclaimed
Cause he was hungry for people's validation
Even if he has to stoop to low fashion.
She was also the shape of Hawaii.
Like the one McKinley annexed
Cause he was full of business in mind
Even if he had to overthrow the queen in a manner so vile.
You see, chaps
Greed are simple things laced with beauty
Everchanging to suit to any haps
Enchants you to lose your sanity
A quagmire so hard for you to depart.
