A Cindy Story

Chapter 1

Dear Diary,

Today is my sixteenth birthday! Not that anyone will care. I can't believe it was ten years ago that my father left me. I miss him every day. It's not like I can forget him with the constant reminder from my Step-Mother. Maybe today will be a good day. One can only hope. -Cindy

"One can only hope." I spoke out loud. As I went to get out of bed I heard it. The dreaded sound that pierces my ears every morning. The screeches of Mia, Olivia, and Anna. My three 'wonderful' step-sisters. I grab my classic red sweatshirt and backpack and run downstairs.

"MOM! We are going to be late!" Mia screeches as she applies her red lipstick.

"It's the first day of junior year! We can like not be late for today!" Olivia added, primping her hair in front of the mirror by the door.

"Yeah! I like can't wait to show everyone how pretty I am!" Anna states, trying to be part of something but all she gets is two judging stares from Mia and Olivia.

"I'm coming darlings!" Linda replies from the top of the stairs. (Linda is my Step-Mother. She is the worst human being on the planet. She wasn't always like that though, after my father died she just changed.) Linda rushes down the stairs and grabs her fur coat.

"Get into the car girls." Mia, Olivia, and Anna rush outside. I grab an apple for breakfast and start to walk after them, until Linda stops me. "And where do you think you're going?"

"I just thought I could catch a ride." I confessed.

Linda just laughed and walked over to the door. "Think again," Linda snarled as she slammed the door in my face.

I thought I could just get one day where Linda would treat me like a human being. But I guess some people never change. Putting on my black converse I headed out the door to begin my long walk to Havilland High.
