Although it felt like eternity, the Castle of Lions was soon quiet and seemed the whole ship was at rest. Lance however, was anything but tired. He could no longer contain himself, opening his door and peering into the hallway. No one around... He was sure. The paladin tiptoed out into the corridor, spy music playing in his mind. He grinned, sneaking around every corner, hiding at every sound of the ship creaking. Almost there...
Lance reached the observatory in again what seemed like a century, but in reality only a few doboshes. He peeked around the corner, and had a moment of dayshavoo. Keith sat in the exact same spot, staring at the exact same stars. Except this time, Lance caught himself looking a little bit longer. His eyes traced over every detail of that mullet head. The way his eyes gleamed with interest; his face glowing with moonlight; his slick jacket, that Lance had always been just a little jealous of. A genuine, goofy smile tugged at the corner of his lips. He finally began to understand what Papá had meant... "Mi amor," Lance whispered shyly to himself, "¿eres tú? ¿Te he encontrado finalmente?"
"Are you going to stand there all night," Keith shot a smirk over his shoulder. Lance was sure he felt cupid's arrow pierce through his heart with the look the Red Paladin gave him.
"Quiznak, no," he answered, rushing inside the room and sitting next to Keith.
"I still don't think you use that word correctly."
"Shut up," Lance crossed his legs, holding back a smile. A few ticks passed, both boys simply enjoying the atmosphere of knowledge; knowledge that they both felt the opposite of hate toward each other. Glancing down, Lance noticed Keith's hand only a centimeter away. With a spark of bravery he didn't know he had, Lance quickly took Keith's hand; locking their fingers together. Keith bit his lip, not daring to move; afraid Lance would let go.
"What are we now?" Keith asked, his low voice slicing through the thick silence of the room. "I mean," he shifted his body, completely facing Lance now, "d-do you want more to us than...just that kiss?" Lance had to stop himself from answering immediately. Of course he wanted more, he really, really liked Keith. He wanted to be more to the Red Paladin than just a friend. But he also knew if Keith was truly the one he's been waiting for, he didn't want to screw it up.
"I-I do. I want to be more than just your friend... Maybe we could see how this plays out; like get to know each other more, passed the whole 'rivalry' thing," Lance worried his lip.
"You mean...like how... a date?" Keith mumbled, not really sure he was understanding Lance right.
"Well, 'dating' more specifically..." Lance chuckled nervously, "would you go out with me? It'll be a little weird, cause it's not like I can just take you to a movie or anything but - I could try, if you want-"
"Yes." Keith smiled smally. "I would love that, going out with you." Lance let out a breath, he didn't realize he'd been holding. Relief rushed over him, and happiness took anxiety's place.
"Can I.. kiss you again?" Lance leaned closer, his dark eyes twinkling up at Keith; the charm level skyrocketing. Keith raised his eyebrows.
"Wasn't I the one to kiss you first?" Lance frowned.
"You know what I mean," Lance grumbled, his hand taking up the fabric of Keith's shirt, pulling him to meet Lance's lips. Heat sparked between them, as their lips met; though only for a moment. Keith pulled away. "Hey," Lance whined.
"We should go to bed. Coran said Arus found a small squad of Galra ships on the outer edges of this free sector. Shiro wants us to go after them tomorrow," Keith leaned close, his lips brushing Lance's ear, "We'll need the rest, Blue Paladin." The way he spoke gave Lance a heated shiver that went straight to his gut.
