Maisey's POV

We drove through the high school car park, Bryce pulling into his usual car park situated right next to mine. I let out a loud sigh, knowing that in any minute I'm going to be seeing my ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend. "Hey, cheer up little one. Justin and I got your back, always" Bryce said to me, seeing how down my mood is. "Besides, we're seniors now so we run the fucking school" he continued on, us both chuckling. How could I forget, I only have one more year before I can get out of this hell hole.

Bryce and I walk through the school corridors side by side, taking in...well, nothing. Every year the school is the same dark, cold and mysterious building it's been for many years, besides the addition of a few posters littered on the walls. What didn't look the same however, was Monty. His eyes too were red and puffy, his knuckles also grazed which led me to believe he had recently got into it with his father. He hung his head low, peers not daring to look his way as to not get in the way of Montgomery De La Cruz.

I put my head down, continuing to walk alongside Bryce in hopes of not making it obvious that I had noticed the tan boy looking at me moments before.
"Is that my best friend and Bryce" I hear, Justin. For once I crack a smile as I'm met with Justin Foley, my other best friend besides Bryce.

I sometimes wonder how I got so lucky to have Justin as my best friend. Don't get me wrong, I love Bryce too, but Justin and I have always gotten along on a more deeper level than Bryce and I. He understood me more than I understood myself. The whole reason we met was because he befriended Bryce when we were kids, immediately we hit it off and the rest is history. But, unfortunately Justin had a rough childhood compared to us, thankfully though, my family and Bryces always made sure that Justin was treated like another sibling of ours.

"How are you Mais", I hear Zach whisper in my ear, unknowingly getting the groups attention. "I'm fine" I reply, mustering up the biggest fake smile that I could in the moment. Talking about it was the last thing I wanted to do. Thankfully, the jocks turned their attention to sports and their gaze on me finally subsided, leading to me let out a shaky breath.

I had the pleasure of having both Justin and Scott in my math class, I could already tell this was going to be one fun class. The bell rang, signalling first period but still our group stood still, continuing the long overdue conversations. "Get to class, all of you" we heard from Mr. Porter, we all looked at him, some with hatred and others with annoyance. I rolled my eyes, seeing we were the only people left in the corridors. I quickly link arms with the two boys and set off towards class, saying quick goodbyes to our friends.

As we walked in we were met with our math teacher. "Of course this is our teacher", I muttered dramatically, looking straight at Justin. Justin also muttered something incoherent underneath his breath before chuckling slightly, the hatred the two of us had for this teacher was once again igniting. Mrs Brooks, funnily enough she was half the schools favourite teacher, they all adored her and admired her. But Justin and I, couldn't stand her one bit. "Mr Foley, Mrs Jones...I hope you've both matured over the summer" she says, eyeing the two of us as we make our way to sit at the row of desks at the far back of the class.

I bust out laughing, Justin too as Scott looks on in bewilderment. "That was a good one, Mrs Brooks", "yea, brave of you to assume something that's virtually impossible", Justin snickers. This too was another reason why we didn't get along with her, she always judged Justin and I from day one, this being the whole reason we act the way we do towards her. Every year she's tried to have Justin and I placed into different classrooms, however Mr Porter and Principal Bolan found it better if we stayed together to 'keep each other out of trouble', but of course they knew that we only fuelled each other's bad habits.

The three of us quickly got back into conversation as Mrs Brooks voice played out in the distant background. Suddenly, I hear two girls in front of us whispering something a little too loud for my liking. "Isn't it obvious she was fucking Scott on the down low" she whisper-yelled to her friend beside her, "how else would they stumble across them" she continued. I had enough, I quickly and swiftly got out of my seat and made my way in front of their desks before slamming my fist down, startling the two girls. "One more word and all your secrets come out, Isobel" I smirk, noticing the fear in her brown orbs as she looks at me. "What secrets do you know, huh. You don't know anything, you're all talk" she smirks back, obviously she had grown a pair over the summer holidays. "Wouldn't the class like to know what really happened to Isobel's brother" I loudly announce, the class of kids now looking up interested in what I was about to announce. Everyone had wondered what the real story behind Isobel's brother was, but of course I wasn't going to give that information, it purely was a tactic I used to scare her. I seen her cower slightly, slumping down in her chair not daring to look at me any longer. I laugh and so does Justin and Scott.
