November 7, 2018"I just don't understand," the girl choked out, trying not to let herself completely break down in public.
The girl looked up to meet her best friend's sympathetic gaze. "It's not your fault, these things just happen. Some people just fall out of love," she replied softly, gently rubbing the girls back.
The two girls were currently sitting side by side on the edge of a water fountain in the middle of a mall.
The girl just turned away from her friend, not knowing what to say. She loved her best friend, but she really didn't want to hear this the day after her boyfriend dumped her.
The breakup wasn't terrible, really. Her boyfriend, Gavin, just got pretty distant and decided to they needed a break- which lead to an actual breakup only two days later.
It wouldn't have hurt Jade so much if he would have at least done it in person. They were together for 8 months and he didn't even have the decency to meet her in person? Or even call, if anything?
Gavin didn't deserve her in the first place. She was practically in love with him, whether she liked to admit it or not, and no matter what he did, she always forgave him.
Especially when he didn't deserve it. Gavin cheated on her on multiple occasions, took advantage of her, yet somehow managed to make her feel like the only girl in the world- even if he was sleeping with other women during their relationship.
Jade felt completely broken. It had only been a day since the breakup, but she just felt lost, like she lost her best friend. She knew he was no good for her, but still managed to let herself get so attached to him- which is why it hurt so much.
Jade pulled out her phone, hoping deep down to see a text from Gavin, but was disappointed to see nothing but the words "no older notifications" printed on her screen.
She sighed, going to her messages and looking over the texts he had sent her the night before.
Gav 💙
Hey Jade..Hey Gavin. what's up?
Gav 💙
I've been thinking, and maybe we shouldn't be on a break anymoreWhat do you mean?
Gav 💙
I'm sorry , but i think we just need to break up.oh.. okay..
read 6:47 p.mJade felt her heart breaking all over again, choking back tears as she read through the words for what felt like the 100th time. She just wished it was a dream, that she was gonna wake up tomorrow and everything would be all better- but she knew it didn't work like that.
It never works like that.
She also wished she would have said something, anything, other than "oh.. okay.."
It wasn't enough to give her the closure she needed. She wished she could have at least asked why, but now it was too late.Ember (a.k.a Emmy, her best friend) reached over and pulled the phone out of Jade's hand, shutting it off and sliding it into the pocket of her jacket. "Jade, listen. It's never going to get better if you keep reminding yourself of how much it hurt," she spoke softly, hoping to help calm Jade down.
