When I woke up, I could barely contain my nerves. I was going to meet my mother's family for the first time.
I got dressed and hauled on my luggage down the stairs at 5:00 a.m.
Although I was excited to meet Toby, my anxiety was kicking in.
What is I was just a weird American to him? What if I wasn't cool? The list of what ifs went on.
I decided to eat some granola and yoghurt before I left. My fingers were freezing from my nerves.
It's not that I am scared to meet Toby, but more that I will mess this up.
"Alright Cam, you ready to travel into a time zone six hours ahead?" My father asked.
I nodded my head while eating a scoop of my yoghurt.
" You seem a little quiet, is something bothering you?" He questioned.
I shook my head replying," No, I'm all right. Just a little tired."
" OK I don't fully believe you, but we can get some coffee or something like that to wake you up."
After a packaged all our baggage, we left for the airport.
I was a little nervous to travel over the ocean. Something about a huge gathering of an endless abyss of water scares me.
Well it's more like a fear the unknown or undiscovered is what actually scares me.
" Now loading flight A142 to England," The moderator spoke.
It was kinda weird seeing everyone wearing facial masks because of corona. And it was also wild to see all these people traveling to the same place.
"Cam come on. I don't want you to be left behind," My father called out
I quickly followed after him come not wanting to be left behind either.
Before we were allowed to board the plane come up we had to have our temperature checked.
As soon as that was finished with quickly found our seats.
" Please listen to the announcements before the plane takes off. This is for your safety."
Although I was supposed to be listening to the rules come I whispered to my father, "Do they know that we are coming?"
" Yes, they know that you and I are coming for a week."
I nodded my head, asking, " Are we staying at their house?"
" Yes honey," my father replied, turning his gaze to the front of the plane.
"All right everyone, we are a few minutes behind everyone it is mandatory that you all wear your seat belt and masks come for everyones safety."
As soon as the man left my view, the plane began to move at a rapid pace.
I put my headphones in and closed my eyes. When we land in England, it would be two p.m. already.
The view outside of the plane was beautiful. The land beneath us seemed so small that I barely even believed that I was on earth anymore.
I fell asleep relatively quick, which was extremely nice.
As we were landing, my father placed a hand on my shoulder. "Cam, the plane is about to land."
I buckled my seat belt again and braced myself for landing.
The landing wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
As my father walked out of the plane, I felt this rush of adrenaline. I was finally going to meet my other relatives.
As my father called a taxi, I grabbed all of our luggage.
Eventually, we were on the road to their house. My nerves were racing against the rapid beating of my heart.
Finally, the taxi slowed and told us that we were here.
I thanked him and grabbed my luggage.
My father knocked a few times on the door, but in no time at all, it flew open.
"Ohh Dave! Its so good to see you again," The woman exclaimed.
As my father walked in, leaving me all alone outside.
The bubbly woman turned her gaze towards me.
"You must be Cameron," She said pulling me into a hug. I had no words to say.
The last time I had recieved a hug so close to this was before my mother had died.
"Ohh, everyone just calls me Cam," I replied.
She pulled away from the hug and studied me.
"You look exactly like your mother," She whispered into my ear.
This brought a smile to my face. A comparison to my mother was the greatest thing I could have recieved.
"Okay Cam, your room will be in Toby's old streaming room. There's only a few old PCs in there, but nothing else.
I walked up the stairs and found the room she was talking about.
It was a decent sized room, and I was able to unpack my things fairly quick.
Once i finished I heard two new voices and decided to see who they were.
As I walked out of my room, the taller boy yelled, "Tubbo, I didn't know that you had a woman in your house."
