"Al!" Rose said stumbling over to him. "It's almosht midnigh an if you don't tell em by then I will." She was slurring her words and definitely drunk. He knew that he had to do something or she would and since she was drunk he didn't think that she would just tell Scorpius. Knowing Rose she might end up yelling it out to the whole room since when drunk she lost all of the usual extreme care she put into stuff.
"I know!" Albus said back. He looked around the room to see where Scorpius was. He was standing on the other side of the room talking to Molly, Dom, and Brook about something that must have been extremely funny since they were all laughing.
"The New Years count down is in 2 minutes so get a move on!" she informed him, and immediately stumbled off towards Dawn who was grabbing herself another drink. Albus looked back towards where he had seen Scorpius a second before and now couldn't find him. He looked around scanning the room for any sign of his crush but didn't see him.
"The New Years count down is about to start!" yelled James, who was standing on table likely trying to get everyone's attention or maybe just because he wanted to. Everyone in the room immediately looked at the TV which showed 45 seconds left before the countdown and then began relocating them selves next to their significant others for the New Years kiss.
Albus had to find Scorpius and also the right words to tell him how he felt. He weaved through the room looking for Scorpius who had somehow managed to vanish even though there weren't too many people in the room. Then he spotted him standing alone in the corner looking at the TV watching as the count down got closer.
Albus immediately changed course and headed towards him even though he had no clue what he was going to say.
"10!" everyone shouted starting off the count down, which somehow felt slower then most years as he made his way across the room.
"9!" He was almost there and Scorpius had noticed him now.
"8!" He stopped in front of his best friend trying to form the words to tell him how he felt.
"7!" Scorpius is looking at him with those gorgeous blue grey eyes that he loves so much.
"6!" he needs to say something but doesn't know how, it's as though his brain has quit working and even though he is willing it come up with something nothing to working.
"5!" why is this so hard? If only he could just transmit his thoughts into his best friends head so he could understand because there is no way to put this into words.
"4!" They are closer now, he doesn't even remember moving but suddenly they are less then a foot apart
"3!" Everything in the world seems to slow down as he feels himself move closer.
"2!" They are inches apart now.
"1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!" The whole room erupts in cheers but Albus hears nothing the only thing he notices are Scorpius's lips on his own. They both just stand there for a second their lips pressed together Albus's hand moving to cup Scorp's face, until they finally separate. It had only lasted a couple of seconds but to Albus the kiss had felt like an eternity.
Sorry I haven't updated recently I've been busy and my update schedule died.
