Okay, so this is the first chapter... and I LOOOOVEE JILY! and now I'm not going to waste your time, so let's get going...

It was the summer before the Marauders' and their peers' last year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Over the past year, Lily had tried to come on friendly terms with the Marauders. Mainly because her best friend, Marlene McKinnon, was dating Sirius Black- the player of Hogwarts and a Marauder.

It came as a surprise for everyone at Hogwarts that these two players were seriously dating- no pun intended- but at the same time, they were perfect for each other. A player for a player.

Remus Lupin was the only Marauder Lily actually liked. Remus and she had become quick friends because they were both plenty agreeable. They often spent time together on prefect duties, during study sessions, or simply chatting. She enjoyed talking to Remus; he was so thoughtful and wise.

Lily had never known much of Peter. He remained so quiet that he was often forgotten by her. But whatever his nature towards her, he was highly enthusiastic about the ideas of the Marauders.

Sirius Black was another whole level of annoying in himself- always irritating, making useless and pointless jokes, commenting on her relationship with J.- Potter, smirking and teasing. Still, he was her Bestie's Boyfriend and a great friend to the Marauders. Thus, even if only half-heartedly, she had refrained from transforming him into a fur coat.

The biggest problem of all was none other than James Potter- Quidditch star and captain, prankster extraordinaire, extremely handsome- no wait, Lily wasn't supposed to think that!

Anyway, the thing was that he had ALWAYS asked her out! He had been pestering Lily to go out with him for most of their time at Hogwarts. Though a part of her did seem to notice that the past year hadn't been as bad as the others. James had stopped annoying her. He had kept his distance, not like acting-out-of-character distance or anything, but just not continuously asking her out, which was a relief.

Yet she was always jumpy around him. One way or another, her brain found a way to make everything he did annoying. Guess that's just become a habit now?

But anyhow, to some approximation, Lily was now on friendly terms with the Marauders.

The summer had been quite good to everyone thus far.

Marlene had been on a family trip to Australia, Alice spent most of summer with her boyfriend, Frank, Remus stayed home with his parents, and Sirius, who for some unfathomable reason had moved in with the Potters, had spent his summer with James, going to the Quidditch matches of the season.

Lily was having a great summer too, except for Petunia, of course. She had gone to the nearby lake with her parents and had a night out there. It was peaceful and fun to spend time with them after so long. Besides that, she usually spent her time in her room or going around the neighbourhood to avoid Petunia. She kept in touch with her friends by frequently writing to them over the summer; that was the only way to remain sane with Petunia around.

It was all going smoothly until Petunia decided to introduce her walrus-like boyfriend, Vermin, or Vernon. Whatever, vermin suited him more anyway. Lily hated that boastful prat. Honestly, how come Petunia even liked him? Did she not see clearly? He was the most irritating and grumpy person on the entire planet. Even Petunia could do better, and that's saying something! But, oh well, if that's what she likes, then who really cares?

And now Just two more weeks until the end of summer and then she'll be back at Hogwarts for the last time in her life-the last time she'll walk through platform 9¾, The last time she'll be in the great hall, the last time she'll visit the library, the last time she'll sit under the tree beside the black lake and the last time James will ask her ou- wait what? Is Lily Evans remembering James Potter in her things she'll miss list? Merlin No!!!
