2 • Head Boy And Girl

The next day, everyone left for the station at half-past 10. Since half of them didn't have their license or didn't know how to apparate at all, they were supposed to improvise.

"I've never side-apparated before!" Lily exclaimed, a bit scared and wary of the plan. 

"Don't worry. its not too bad, just feels like being sucked into a hole and the next second you're where you want to be..." James said reassuringly.

"Okay." This explanation didn't seem to have any effect on Lily's worry. "Can't you take me?" she asked, looking at Alice.

Alice looked between her and james, "umm, sorry lils. i haven't really perfected it yet. and i dont want to drop you somewhere halfway across the earth. so it's better you go with the boys, you know? they're more experienced." she says, giving lily a guilty look.

At that moment, Lily wished, more than anything, that she'd given the test like the rest of them when she turned seventeen instead of waiting to perfect her skills.

Lily nodded before reluctantly stepping towards Potter. Just because she could tolerate him didn't mean she wanted to be touching him. 

"Hey," james looks at her apologetically, "i'm sorry about this. I know you'd prefer to go with alice-"

"it's fine," she replies stiffly before preparing herself for the move.

"Hold on tight, ok?" James asked and held out his arm for her to grab. Lily nodded, looking at his outstretched arm for a minute, then she heard Marlene shreik as she disappeared into thin air with sirius. her fear won and instead of holding his outstretched arm, she flung both her arms around his torso, an embarassing blush creeping up her neck. James stayed in a trans of shock for just a small moment, then quickly wrapped his arms around her protectively, and then with one pop, they were gone with their luggage.

Lily's POV

And I was standing in an alleyway near the station with my arms still wrapped around James. I don't even know what really made me do that... I felt a bit like puking, but it was fine soon.

We only get away after a minute when James gets done carrying our luggage. "Er- Thanks" I say still blushing. oh, I've made such a fool of myself. he wouldn't even talk to me...

"always a pleasure" he says and winks at me before going to the barrier and through it. I repeated the actions and was met by Marlene, Sirius, Alice, Remus and James.

we all set off to find a spare compartment for ourselves, but that doesn't take much time. thanks to the boys, that they have a 'Marauder's' compartment... peter joins us there. the whistle soon blows and the train starts moving. James stands up and leaves the compartment,

"Lily?" remus asks

"yeah?"

"don't you have to go?"

"me? wh- oh oh yes. oh no. I can't believe I forgot!" I say standing up and running to the head's compartment. wonder who head boy is... please be someone decent. it could be Remus, but he didn't tell me so...

I enter the compartment, but when I close the door and turn around I'm greeted by an odd sight. someone is sitting here...

"James?! what are you doing here? you're not supposed to be here. this compartment's only for heads-" I say.

"yeah, I know" he says and pulls out a badge that explains everything.

"oh my god! Merlin's beard! what th- how? dumbledore's gone mad!!" I blurt out..
