That morning I woke without Dandy. When this happened the first time, he was simply working out, the next time he was in a blood bath. I couldn't imagine what he could possibly be doing now. I got dressed, and as soon as I went down the hall, I could hear Dandy telling Gloria about his costume. Maybe he gave up on the idea of killing someone and just wants to go trick-or-treating? ...Nope.
I went downstairs to find him in the kitchen eating cereal, as Gloria and Dora double checked their packing list for the cruise.
"Good morning beautiful!"
He said more joyful than ever before as he jumped up to kiss my cheek. He sat back down quickly to finish his breakfast.
"I'll miss you Dandy."
Gloria said as she hugged him.
"Goodbye Bonnie! Have a good Halloween you two!"
She said as her and Dora went out the door.
We watched the car leave the driveway and go out of sight.
"So now that they're gone, I have a surprise for you." Dandy said happily.
"Come on!" He led me up to the guest bedroom.
He picked up two bags, handing one to me.
"These are our costumes for tonight, I want you to try yours on, and I'll try on mine, so I can see how we'll look together."
"But we aren't going trick-or-treating, I thought we were..."
I trailed off.
"We are still going to kill him, but we'll need these costumes so that if there's any witnesses, they won't have a description."
"Oh, um, okay."
I had no other way to reply, I never really accepted the idea of killing someone, but I knew I had no choice.
"You get changed in the bathroom, I'll get dressed here, I don't want to see how you look until it's finished."
I did just as he said and went into the bathroom. I opened the bag, pulling out a clown suit and mask. Didn't he realize I've had enough bad experiences with clowns?
I went along with it knowing that I had no other choice. After putting on the costume I looked at myself in the mirror. "At least it's better than what that insane clown was wearing." I mumbled to myself.
Just then, there was a knock on the bathroom door.
"Oh Bonnie!" He said in a sing song voice.
"One moment! I'm almost ready!" I replied.
I glanced at the mirror one last time, took a deep breath and opened the door.
He no longer stood against the door, he was on the other side of the room, standing completely still in front of the long mirror that sat in the corner. He blocked the whole mirror with his baggy clown suit. It was nearly the same as mine; White pants, and a white shirt with a puffy blue trim around the neck, and colorful circles of fabric sewn on randomly.
"Oh! Wonderful, you're ready." He said without turning around. He sounded muffled, I figured he had on the same mask that he had given me. He turned around to look at me, and I saw it.
I saw the mask, the same one that the insane clown had been wearing. I screamed.
"You! You're with that clown! You're as insane as he is!"
I immediately regretted ever trusting him, or loving him.
He came towards me quickly. I didn't have time to run.
He stood close to me, his body pressed up against mine. He pulled his mask down until it no longer covered his mouth, and hung loosely around his neck. "Take off your mask." He ordered. I did as told, and dropped it on the floor. He stepped even closer to me and began to speak in a low voice.
"Last night, I left the house to go for a walk. My life has changed so much in the past week or so. I needed time to think, to just breathe. So I went for a walk in the woods, under the moonlight. I walked past the clowns bus, and I saw him lying on the ground, dead."
I perked up a little. I was happy that the insane clown was dead. I could walk in the woods again without being afraid.
"I took his mask, put it on, and I felt the power right away! The clown introduced me to murder, it's what I was destined to do, I truly believe that I was put on this earth to bring death. The only difference between the clown and I, is that he tried to hurt you, and I could never do that. I love you too much to hurt you."
