A/N: Hi my favourite readers in the world! I'm so sorry that it took forever and a half to continue this but I had writer's block something fierce. I'm pleased to announce that I'm back on track with this story. Xoxo

Where in the world is Jenny??!!!

We're sitting in the living room, sipping on the lemonade Joan had poured. Dylan in strangely calm silence, Ethan in godlike glory, and Joan scrutinizing Ethan's face off.

"Thanks for the lemonade, Joan," Dylan puts his half-empty glass down. Then he looks at me, looks at Ethan, looks at my mom, then widens his eyes at me. Understand?

"Oh, yeah." I put my hands out in a nice gesture at Ethan. "Mom, this is Ethan Boyle. Ethan, this is my mom, Joan."

Ethan stands up, surprisingly, and offers his hand. "Mrs. Reynolds, I'm Ethan Boyle, the one who invited your daughter out tonight."

Joan seems pleasantly surprised by his mannerisms. Of course I'd known he had it in him all along. He quotes Shakespeare for crying out loud.

"And how did you two meet?" she smiles with a little more warmth this time after shaking his hand.

He sits back down and smirks at me. "Do you want to tell them, or should I?"

"Uh..." wait, is he throwing me under the bus? Out of nowhere? We met in the principal's office. Where I got detention.

He grins and turns to Joan. "We met in the principal's office. The headmaster wanted her help to tutor us in Chemistry."

"Us?" Joan echoes numbly.

"Sleepy-with-a-K," I enlighten her. When they stare at me blankly, I realize I'd used my endearing nickname of him. "Lincoln... I forgot his surname. Apparently we used to play in some playground but I don't remember."

"Link!" Joan nods. "Wow, I haven't seen that boy in ages. How's he doing?"

"Uh..." How does one reply to that? Hmm?

"He seems quite tired. Probably works part time somewhere," Ethan smiles lightly.

I blink at Ethan. That is the most diplomatic sentence in the history of diplomatic sentences.

Ding Dong!

All of us jerk a little at the loud doorbell. I squint at Joan. We need to do something about that bell's volume, I tell her telepathically as I get up. She stares back blankly.

Right.

Sigh.

I open the door and another stunning sight awaits me. Gone were Jenny's common yet tasteful clothes. She sports a lovely flowing bohemian casual dress that shows off her never-before-seen willowy figure.

"Pretty!" I enthuse, pulling her into the house. "Mom, this is Jenny. Jenny, this is Joan, my mom, and you know Dylan and Ethan." I say with grandeur. I channel my inner drama hostess.

Dylan waves while Ethan gives an indifferent nod.

Joan, though.

She burst from her seat in pure bliss and starts pelting a frazzled looking Jenny with questions. Jenny throws me a look that screams 'help'.
