The Last Supper

Despite the fact that I had an alpha and beta trying to kill me, things were actually going pretty well. Mel began some intense training with me and Mai, and believe it or not Mai is actually beginning to clean up her act. She's slimmed it down to only two gins a week. All of the other girls are on high alert, and Anna kay has seen very few hints of where Ophelia and Cain could be. The latest groundbreaking discovery was that they were on some train in New Orleans. The thought of a war breaking out between us absolutely terrified me, but I couldn't let my emotions show to the others. If they saw how afraid I truly was, they wouldn't even try to fight. But recently, there has been one person who's able to get my mind off of it, Adam.
I see Adam often these days, usually at night, when he creeps in through the windows and lies with me. This whole Ophelia and Cain thing has me pretty freaked. I wake up everyday with this huge weight on my chest, that despite my greatest efforts cannot dissipate. Adam always says that no matter what, he'd be there to protect me. But I don't want that, I don't want someone else to have to put their life on the line because I'm too weak to take care of it myself. If Ophelia does come, I will have to do my duty as the alpha, and fight her. Everyone here is hoping for the best, but we all know that eventually she will be here. And it will rest upon me and Mai to protect our pack.

"These are wonderful Mel." Haden says, gorging herself into the sushi rolls Mel had made. Mel gave a prideful but humble smile and looked down as she said,"thank you dear." The rest of us smiled and continued to eat.
As I sat there, I looked around the mahogany table, at all of the girls that I have come to know and love so dearly. I saw Haden's earthly glow, Anna's deep blue aurora, Mai's new face that was restored with her former grace, Mel, smiling tight and looking at all of us, and Anna Kay, whose face resembled worry. Her aurora only got worse and I could tell she was seeing something. "Anna Kay?" I said, slowly standing up from my seat. Just as I did so, her eyes got wide, flashed bright white light, and she fell to the ground with a thud. Everyone from the table jumped up, in one split second, everything changed, and yet it seemed to be going in slow motion. "Haden, Anna! Lock all the doors and do as the protocol instructs!" Mel yells, getting Anna Kay off the floor. Mai stood beside me, and unknowing look on her face, resembling mine. Pure chaos was in the room and I knew that it could only get worse. This was our last supper.
